Welcome back Fran, glad to have you back! I am just learning to spin and long to spin some mohair. There are a lot of spinners here so I am sure you will get your answer! Julia V.

I only have one angora goat right now..have never had more than two at a time with my sheep too. I love mohair! I do my processing by hand..I do have a drum carder, but usually do mohair with hand cards..it cards up like angel hair!! Alot of times I mix it 50/50 with wool since it isn't as elastic as wool is and makes for better stretch and memory for knitting. I use straight mohair when I weave with it though. It dyes the best of any fiber I have tried. I have only had white angora goats ...I think the colored ones are beautiful..lucky you!! There is a pic of my little Pearl on the Mona and NOrman update thread in Barnyard friends...I have had her since she was a preemie that would fit in a shoebox..bottle fed her and she lived in the house in a dog crate for a month..she is so spoiled..and not very good "quality"..she has bad feet..walks on her heels...but I love her and her mohair has stayed very soft even though she is nearly 3 years old now. Do you shear twice a year? If not I find that the fiber is so long that it is hard to process and spin...twice a year gives you just the right length..but you probably already knew that!!
welcome back!!!

well catherine,
i replied to you ,but seems i got in the wrong area!duh, my computer skills are not so good.
bonham is in north texas about 70 miles north of dallas, we are in between sherman and pris , texas, very close to the red river.
it is very rural here, about 25,000 people in the whole county, and bonham is the largest town in our county, about 9,000 people.
amyway thanks, belatedly for the welcome. i hope i get better with this computer.

Mornin' Frannie,

These durn computers get the best of all of us sometimes....no worries!

I went to school in Dallas for a couple of years. I was a teenager and a boarder at Hockaday. Because of living at the school, I never really ventured out any further than the mall.

Blessings
Catherine
