I am wanting to dye my first yarn, and am looking for suggestions on the best way to start. Do I start on spun yarn? Koolaid dye??
Thanks for any help.

Michele, One thing to consider is that different fibers may dye differently, so say if you test a color on acrylic yarn and then dye hand spun wool with the same color it may come out different! I have used kool-aid with pretty good results, but I finally got commercial dyes because I was too nervous about the kool-aid possibly fading! I have had food coloring fade very bad on me so personally for me I wouldn't recommend it! Hope this helps and have fun!!

You can dye the roving or the yarn. You will get slight differences in color intensities. I too would avoud kool-aid just because it does fade.

Good luck on finding the best way to dye your wool Michele. What colors did you have in mind to use?
