Although it doesn't get near as cold here in Louisiana as it does with you farm girls further north, it still gets pretty chilly and wet for us, and we are forced inside. This winter, I'm planning on preparing a mission statement for Paradise Plantation, complete with a list of goals for the spring and summer. I'm also planning on doing a bunch of weaving, in order to prepare for my first booth next March. I want to improve my knitting skills, make a few batches of soap and work on some redwork. As much as I'm going to hate it, my drudgery chores will include cleaning out cabinets, cleaning out and reorganizing our cellar, and giving my house a thorough scrubbing. So, what will all of y'all be doing?

Reorganize, reorganize, reorganize! All the things I had planned on doing before the baby arrived, and couldn't because I fell and broke my ankle, and by the time that healed, I was too big to do anything of note!
We are planning on redoing the kitchen--mostly cosmetic, but majorly warranted. New paint on walls and cabinets, new drawer pulls, new floor. And MORE organization!!!
I will also continue knitting, and take a few classes to hone up on my skills. We usually have some warmer weather here come January (weird, right?) so we plan on clearing some land in the lower back yard for a large pumpkin/gourd patch next year, as well as other colder weather crops.

This winter I will hopefully be trying to concieve with my DH. We were married in Oct.
Beyond that, I'd really like to tackle re-organizing our "Room of All things Lost". We have one room upstairs in the attic that isn't finished out, and it's become a holding place for all the extra things I brought with me when I moved, and a bunch of stuff from his childhood, along with random stuff that I don't even recognize!
I'd also like to work some more on my scrapbooking. I've put it away for the time being because of the hectic-ness of moving last winter, setting up, and working on tobacco/cattle all spring/summer. We'll see how far I get.
Starbucks and sushi to green fried tomatoes and corn pudding-I wouldn't change it for the world.

I have my challenge things ready to go for the winter. I wanted to make a Grandmothers flower garden quilt so I designed one but changed it to use a 1/2 inch hexagon so it will now have 342 flowers with a garden path around them. I've collected enough flour sacks so each flower will be different and I am sewing it by hand with seams not paper piecing. Now that should keep me busy but I am also signed up for classes to learn to knit and crochet beyond the beginner stage. I am also going to advance to the next level of fly tying. I do not fly fish but I love to make flies and give them to a brother in law. We are usually never stuck inside for very long here in TX, it more just a break from the hot humid summers. LOL

Working on the a newsletter for the HOTTIE henhouse, MOVING BACK TO TEXAS!!! :) :) :), organzing and purging, one college course, working out MORE and just trying to enjoy a lot of time with my hubby and baby boy. YEE HAW!!!

Lots of embroidery, learning how to knit, re-organizing and getting rid of about 1/2 the stuff in my house, and I want to start a crazy quilt. Plus, DH has a ton of jeans that need to be re-purposed. So I'm hoping to make a quilt out of them.
I'm actually looking forward to a little down time. This summer and fall have been INSANELY busy. It will be nice to take a break for a little while.

I do my spring cleaning in the winter, no time the other 3 seasons. I start in one room, take it completly apart and clean, toss and donate. When that ones done, I start on the next. Bedrooms are first, kitchen is last. Then its quilting and jewelry making time. I try to make one new pattern quilt every winter, and its a challenge to find one that I like, on top of the perfect material designs. Jewelry is a hobby, I make for family and friends, no patterns, just what ever pops into my minds eye. I pick-up broken and un-loved jewelry at swap meets and thrifts, take them apart and re-design. So I never get cabin fever, I'm way to busy, and I love it.

I stay outside as much as possible to to avoid going shack wacky! I love to hike in the woods, especially in the winter. If it is raining or the wind chills are ridiculous, I need to reorganize my recipes and put them in binders. I want to break them down by season.
There is always tons to do around the house, so the drudgery projects are always there. I really want to throw out anything we haven't used since se moved here 7+ years ago. Now if I can only get my husband to go through his stuff! We also needs to give the garage a super cleaning. Sounds like fun doesn't it?

Going to load a quilt in the big frame this week and then pick away at it through the winter. It will be by machine so it is do-able (if it were by hand I'd have to will it to someone after I die and hopefully that won't be for another 40 years or so <G>). Since losing weight I hate, hate, hate to be cold or otherwise I'd get outside and cross-country ski to get rid of cabin fever. Gives me the chills just thinking of it tho!

Well, I am now the proud owner of a pair of cover alls. Never had any of those before, but going to the Farmers Market in the winter and standing outside gets pretty chilly here in Missouri. I will be cutting and prepping our salad greens all winter for sell at the market, plus be inside baking, stone baked sourdough breads to sell on Saturdays. So, I already look forward to being inside the house where the wood fire will be. When we get the plastic back on our hoop houses, it is much nicer to prepare our salad greens under cover. Other than that, making knitted hats to sell and give away, and working on some Christmas projects too plus tending to our chickens. This year these things will keep me from cabin fever.

Down here we are blessed with "mild" winters, but on those days I have to stay inside, I will be working on my merit badges.

Hi Alee, yes I have some and they are wonderful! There are times in the winter when a day doesn't go by without at least the top or bottoms of a set of long underwear on under my work clothes. It amazes me to think how I used to be hot, hot, hot 24/7 with all my extra insulation. <G>

You mean cabin fever is only supposed to come in the winter time?? lol I get stir crazy all the time. I have lots of plans for this year. Reduce, reorganize, and restart. These next few month are looking to be a new start for our little family, and I am looking forward to being able to take the time to get our lives in order so we can all live it to the fullest. So, its tons of cleaning and decluttering for me. I plan to do it with coffee,a vengeance and lots of gusto!!!:D
