I was reading about Spring Cleaning and elbow grease was mentioned. Every time I hear that term I think about the time I told my daughter to use "elbow grease".

She was about 8 years old and had left crayons on her bedroom floor. I had asked her to pick them up before they got stepped on. We were renting at the time and the carpet was indoor-outdoor that I was afraid would get stained. Trying to teach her some responsibility for her actions, or lack thereof, I told my daughter that if any of the crayons got stepped on and made a mark on the carpet she would have to clean it up. Well, of course, she neglected to pick the crayons up and some got stepped on and left marks on the carpet. My daughter's favorite saying back then was, "I can't", so I told her she could if she used a little elbow grease.
A few minutes later I heard the kitchen cabinet door close. Then my daughter comes into the room I was in and asked, "Mama...where is the Elbow Grease?"

I still chuckle when I think of that inocent remark...ha ha!

That's a good one, Bonnie. Children are so sweet and funny.

Boy, do I wish elbow grease was something I could find in my cabinet, instead of somewhere in my willpower! What a sweet little girl you have!

XOXO, Libbie

What's not so cute is when your 37 year old husband asks "do we have any" when you tell him to just use some elbow grease on that job.....Well, I replaced him anyway. But I think it would be sweet on a child!
