Do any of you participate in BookCrossings? It's an online organization where you register and enter your zip code. They send you notices of when people "release" a book to be picked up. "Release" means that people leave it somewhere for someone else to find and take.
For example, I released a book in the lobby of a local hotel, registered it at the site, and someone else picked it up (you post when you pick it up). It's lots of fun to see where your book(s) ends up. The friend who got me started has seen some of her books travel 5 or 6 states away!
Of course, some small communities aren't very active or aren't even on the list, but you could be the first. Anyway, I just thought I'd share.

Patti,
I think I have heard of that. I think I'll sign up too. Our town is pretty small, but we are very close to other towns that are a lot larger. What fun!

That sounds like so much fun! I think I'll sign up, too, and "release" in Salt Lake City when I'm up there... Thanks for the info!
XOXO, Libbie

I guess I have a weird sense of humor because I can just see them calling out the bomb squad and blowing up my unattended book in the name of homeland security. Probably wouldn't do it for one little paperback mystery but I bet they would if I put out the shopping bag of books I just gathered up. Sorry guys they go to my niece first and then what's left over goes on to others in her family. Maybe I need to be treated for paranoia along with the depression :)
