When I lived in Island Park, Idaho, the old-timers would say that when the Fireweed was at the peak of bloom, it was 6 weeks till winter. It always seems so. Any other "old wives" weather tales?
I can never remember how the tales go-we saw a wooly worm the other day in the backyard that just had a tip on black on each end. So is it more brown means a milder winter or a severe winter?
