So I just had to post...we were given a rescued chick(from the mouth of a cat) and she has just started laying eggs. I call them "wild" eggs, as I still can't put her in with the other hens, so she free ranges with the turkeys and the duck. I have to search for her eggs everyday. Here's the interesting part-the color. They are white with little brown speckles! Anyone seen eggs like this? I still have no idea what breed she is. I kind of figured she was a cross breed.

Eggs can be of all colors. I've had blue, green, olive, brown with darker brown spots, mahogany, cream with white spots, pink. One hen had huge brown eggs with waves in the shell that made it look like an accordian pulled out. I learned that each hen lays eggs unique to her and if you learn them you will know who's laying and who's not. It is one of the fun things of having chickens.

I have a hen that lays light brown eggs with s few dark brown spots. Very pretty and interesting

I am now thinking they are turkey eggs! Funny, though, I thought they would be noticeably bigger than the chicken eggs. Do turkeys lay year round, like chickens?

Lara, ( you and my daughter have the same name ), depending on the variety of turkey you have, and if the hen is young and this is her first year of laying, yes, they can be about the same size as a large chicken egg.
