That's beautiful Connie! I love the colors, so summery looking. Do you have a pattern to go by or do you just make it up as you go? I would love to make some too.

Take care, Melissa.

Hi Melissa,
no patterns, just use coordinating fabrics. I buy some on ebay, or buy sheets form the thrift shops, etc. Just make them as big as you want, oval, circle or rectangular.

Here's a place on ebay where i buy A LOT of fabric. Debbie sells by the yard and in rolls. I recommend buying it in rolls, as it is cheaper. Debbie will also combine shipping costs, just 'request total from seller' and ask for combined shipping. Told her I sent you, she'll be glad.

I made 2 rag rugs this week with fabric rolls I bought from her. She ships fast.

Thanks for the link Connie. I went and looked around and fell in love with a red and cream colored material and a two tone green leaf material. I think they would make a beautiful Christmas rug. I will definately order from her as soon as I can save up some extra money. Thanks again!

Take care, Melissa.

your welcome Melissa. I am actually buying another crochet hook from her, turns out, even though my rugs are nice, i should be using a smaller crochet hook.

Hi Connie, Loved your rug!! I also would like to learn to do this, is it hard? Also
how big a rug does a roll make, she has her rolls listed in pounds also, can you give me
an idea on how much to buy to make a small size bathroom rug? Toni

I believe one of the rolls i bought was 4 lbs, and about 6" wide? (not sure), I then cut that wide strip about 1.5 inches wide and ripped into strips. I also used another roll, that was not as wide, and cut the strips the same. I made 2 rugs about 24" + in size when done, and I have some fabric left on the rolls. Debbie, who I bought the fabric also told me yesterday that she keeps her fabric the width it is (4"?) instead of cutting it. I have spaces in between my crochet, and i think your not suppose to. I think it's a matter of preference, how tight you want it to be. In Mary Janes book she says 1.5" strips so thats the only way I was aware of. I also didnt know there were different crochet hook sizes, but there is....seems I've been using a big hook. I still like my rugs and plan on making more. I recommend buying fabric from Debbie, she answers all questions promptly and will give you all the advice you need.

If you want to get a tight rug do you need to use hooks? I want to make some of these, bathroom rug size, like 36"X24" or so..

I'd ask Debbie @ rugsnsuch@aol.com -she has an ebay store and website, and she is very friendly in answering questions. I also bought material and my hook from her.
