I have some pickling cukes that I just picked that are somewhat past their ideal harvest date-they have turned a bit yellow, but are still firm. Can I successfully make these into bread & butter pickles or will they not work out?

I would taste one, if its not bitter, then they are fine.

I second that. Canned a lot of yellow ones this summer.

If they are still firm, there should be no problem. I have pickled several yellow one over the years. I have even seen recipes that call for firm, yellow cucumbers.
