Hi all, We are having our first FULL sun day in ....um....ages.(at least I think that's what that bright thing up there is called)*giggle* I'm kitty and plant sitting for a neighbor for a week while she's vacationing with her family and I appreciate rainy days... less for me to water. She has 7 cats in the house(I know), and they aren't use to being inside full-time. They are hissing, snarling and chasing each other and I fear somebody is going to be seriously hurt before she gets back. I made a string toy(like a spider)that's on a loooong string and we play for an hour each day to try and release some of their pent-up frustration. Plus I have catnip growing around here and I take some over every day. They really like that. They are at the door waiting for me now... meowing. They use to hide. Now it's..." Aunt Judy's here! ...yaaaaa...er...yowwwwl"...whatever is cat-speak for ...YIPPEEEEE!!! hahahaha
I'm glad to help her out but, I'm ready for her to come home!
Happy to hear from you all, even when the puter-gremlins lick your fingerprints off the keys before you even get there. It makes it even more exciting just picturing in my mind what you might have posted... if you could! *giggle*
Such a cute pic Nora. Wish I could read it!
Well, Make It A Great Day Gals!
I'm going to throw some laundry out on the line, so it can wave at me and make me giggle on this GORGEOUS Day

Shannon, how about some baby goat pictures? Sound like a busy time.
Judy, love drying clothes on the line. Nothing beats the smell of air dried laundry.

Nora, I have to giggle when I bring the towels in...I call them my "loofa towels" because they are so ...um...scratchy...but in a good way. My Sweet Mama always wanted them that way. She said they made for a great back-rub after her bath. Hahaha. Well ok then. Always happy to please! *sigh* I really miss her!!

Well, summer has arrived to the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. You take a glass of iced tea to the front porch and within five minutes, you are wetter than the glass that the tea is in. Humid to say the least. Gotta love it.

Finally got a mess of peas from the garden. They were so good.

Nora - That is one thing I do not miss from living in SC - the humidity!!!!!

Yesterday was a rough day here on the homestead! We almost lost one of our bucklings! We had him debudded back on the 6th... well yesterday he knocked the cap off, and it started bleeding - completely normal and no big deal! But it wouldn't stop and he was completely saturated in blood! We took him into the vet and they re-burnt the area, cleaned him up, and bandaged his little head. They have no clue why it happened! They checked his blood proteins and he lost a ton of blood, so they also gave him a huge bolus of fluids. Oh the things we do for the animals! Ironically, if we do not sell him, we are going to end up eating him! I'm not sure I am going to be able to eat that little fellow :(

This upcoming week, my mother-in-love, sister-in-love and her family are coming to visit. It is going to be so hard not have my father-in-love here as well! I'm glad he was able to come last year and see our little homestead, but the fact that he never met Jenni is still oh so hard! I don't want to upset anyone, but I just know I'm going to start crying about it at some point while they are here. They will be here for about a week. We are having a party for Brad on the 30th.... it is his 40th birthday tomorrow <3

Shannon, losing someone make events harder for everyone. Just remember that he's there in everyone's heart.

We had 3 inches of rain last night and we had water in the road both ways out. Not right at the house but up and down within in a mile. The Shenandoah is above the flood stage. I was suppose to go to DE for a baby shower today. I'm going up in the morning hopefully will get there in time for the start of the shower.

Have a good week-end.

we had five inches of rain last night and more today. I feel like I need to build an ark. We had water in the basement and spent morning cleaning. Rain is falling as we speak. I am ready for sun. Please pray our farmers just replanted from hail and now it looks like flooding will take the crops again. It is hard to see this.
If all goes well, I will be leaving for vacation on Sunday and hopefully a beach and no rain.
Hope all is well with yall

Just have time for a quick hello. I canned 11 jelly jars and 21 pint jars of strawberry jam last week and today I canned 11 quarts of peaches. Tomorrow I'm heading to the woods to see if any of the black raspberries are ready to pick. We've had a lot of rain too. Yesterday was beautiful, but we had 7 inches of rain the 5 days before that. Luckily no hail here though.

Shannon - you might be surprised about your feelings towards the little goat when butchering times comes. Our milk hauler said that there's no way he could raise a baby calf and then eat it. I told him by the time they're 3 (we raise ours on all grass so it takes longer that normal) they're so ornery and not little cute things. I've also done this my entire life though.

Tammy - I hope you have a wonderful beach vacation. Sure wish I could join you!!

Nora - I planted some peas one year and only had a spoonful make it, but they were the best spoonful of peas I've ever had. The next year I planted some along the fence so they could wind their way up it. The heifers ate them!!!

Sorry I don't have time to read back farther than this page. I'm hoping to have a little more time to be on the computer soon, but we'll see :)
Hugs to all!

Hi all. We are still having spring weather although it's summer now. High 70's and low 80's. No complaints here. We've had lots of small showers, even though one day last week we had 2 1/2 inches in 1 hour and our little town had some flooding issues too. When I went to bed last night it was 58 with a very chilly breeze. I had 2 throws on a chair in the bedroom and I used them both, besides the usual sheet and sheet blanket. BUT I slept so good!!! Lol
Heather I really enjoyed all your pics. I cracked up when you said, about the peas, "The heifers ate them!"
I thought of Queen Latifa in "Beauty Shop", when the girls called each other heifers and I started laughing.
Well, have a great day Gals! Make sure you enjoy some of the summer... not just zoom thru it or just tolerate it! Winters coming, ya know! *Accckkk*...did I just say that?... out loud?...

Hi all,

Been busy in the kitchen. Did up some mulberry jelly. Need to scoot out to the grocer's and then going to get to work on my chores so I can get some time in this afternoon on a new cross stitch project.

I'M BACK!!! Finally, Home from a month in Spokane. Got back late yesterday afternoon. I'm so pooped I can barely sit down
without my eyes closing. So, I will post a small one for now and get back on tomorrow. I just read all the posts and got
caught up.

Judy Girl...you never Cease to make me chuckle! You, my friend, must have the biggest silly bone around! LOL

Denise...always glad to help my friend! I swore I wasn't bringing any more of mom's stuff home with me...but you
know it...I did! My son was laughing at me when I got home. I think I did pretty well considering what I wanted to
bring home but didn't. LOL

Nora...Your Grand-daughter is Adorable and what a Great Honor to do something so worthy of Merit...a Campaign to Stop
Bullying is so vital today! Like Judy...I wish I could read what her picture said.

Tea Lady Tammy...Oh, girlfriend I hope you found a nice warm Beach to enjoy and bask on. I am so in need of Beach time
myself! I need it badly! The only water I have seen is RAIN.

Shannon...I am sure your Family will all understand your tears precious lady. It is hard to have those moments of missing
someone you love. The subject of your missing him might seem like the Elephant in the room at first...but talking and sharing will make your hearts feel better in the end.

Heather...I always love your pictures! That first kitty looks pretty sassy if you ask me. LOL And the Cow with his tongue
up his nose was pretty funny too! Sounds like you are busy doing canning and everything. Makes me hungry just thinking
about it!

More Later Girls,
Peggy

Happy Thursday,
Yall it is raining again. I am pretty sure I need to build an ark. All the roads around our area have been closed, park is flooded, some towns around here flooded and crops are a mess. I am tired of rain!!!!! Hopefully today our basement stays dry afgter the ten inches we had Monday we finally finished cleaning. Had to move our animals to higher ground. Our poor pigs were nearly drowned in the pen.

Granddaughters are here this week and go back Saturday. Hopefully my dear hubby and I can leave on Sunday for Texas to see family and spend our anniversary at a beach.

just checking in to see how yall are doing. I am off to have some tea and do a bit of planning for my upcoming school year. Have some ideas rolling around so need to write them down in my book for when I get serious about school lol...

ok off I fly.
love and blessings,

Judy - I'm heading your way. We're in the 90's and it's way too humid over here. At least there's a breeze. I haven't seen the movie you're talking about - is it good?

Happy Anniversary Tammy!! I hope you were able to get away and that you dry out soon!!!

Have a fun week Nora. I always loved going to my Grandma's!

Peggy - I bet it feels good to be back home.

I picked some more berries yesterday and hopefully I'll get jam made tomorrow. We went to visit hubby's grandpa in the hospital today. They're going to do surgery to remove fluid around his lungs on tuesday. The surgery itself isn't bad, but due to his heart and other health issues they gave him a 50% chance of surviving the surgery. My mother in law is quite worried but is supporting his decision. He can't breath and says "this is no way to live" so he wants to take the risk and have the surgery. If you could add him to your prayer list I would greatly appreciate it.

We had a cute little heifer calf a couple days ago and we have one cow a week over due. I'm betting it'll be a bull calf. I'll post some pictures when I get them on the computer. (I still use a camera LOL!!)

Have a great week everyone!

Good Afternoon My Porchies...

Just got home from Church. Our Associate Pastor Preached today. His sermon was really good but needs practice on his
delivery. He's young and that will come with time, I'm sure! The message was on John The Baptist and how his assurance
of who Christ was turned to questioning and doubt when Christ didn't rescue him out of Prison. We all go there in our
minds when Jesus doesn't do or respond the way we think he should. The Jews thought the Messiah was coming to rescue them from Roman oppression. They didn't understand that God's Plan was much much much bigger than that. God sees the Big Picture not
just our personal circumstance. Jesus was out to save and redeem The Whole World not just John and his immediate predicament.
But John was ultimately delivered from the hands of a Tyrant into The Arms of God. You cannot be more delivered than that! Amen?

Our weather here is nice but NOT Hot! Just comfortable! Suppose to warm up as the week goes on. I still can't believe it is
July. I lost half my Summer...but at least I am home.

Judy...thanks for the Welcome Back! I feel like the long lost child! LOL But I Praise God for all my kids stepping up and wanting
to help! It made all the work a little more tolerable!

Teacher Tammy...Happy Anniversary/Enjoy Texas! You need some warmth and sunshine and I hope you get that! It is one thing to
need a Beach Fix and quite another feeling like the rain and floods are drowning you out!

Nora...I'm so glad that you are getting Grand-daughter time. My oldest Grand-daughter just graduated from High School.
And though I couldn't be there...she came and helped me in Spokane. Such a Blessing!!!

Heather...Oh, I can't wait to see the new pictures. Nothing sweeter than babies/animal or human!!

Spent yesterday with my two youngest grandkids Elijah and Savannah...oh, my gosh they were so excited to see me. Made
my heart Leap with Joy and Delight when they threw their arms around my legs and squealed with Happiness. I brought
them each little trinket bags from their Great Grandparents Stuff. And though the never met either one of them they loved
what I gave them. Plus I bought them each a stuffed animal and some candy from me.

Well, I haven't gotten up the energy to clean my own place yet. But making small dents in the mess each day.

Have a Good Rest of your Sonday!!

Blessings and Hugs,
Peggy

Heather, yes, 'Beauty Shop' is good. It has Kevin Bacon and Alicia Silverstone in it too.
There's one dance scene I could have done without with Alicia 'twirking'(as they call it when Miley Cyrus did it). Didn't even need to be in there. But the rest is good! What are you headed to over this way? Yes, I feel sorry for farm animals in this heat!
Peg, sounds like your homecoming was worth all the time being away, thanks to the grand-kiddos. And yes, I'm glad you got all that help at your mom's house too!!! It's such hard, heart-rending work!
Well we made it up to 91 today. UGH!!! Don't like this at all. I thank God for sending cool breezes in the night so I can sleep. But these daytime temps...aaccckkk!!! Now we're expecting rain off n on for 5 days. Then 83 n 82. Yaaa!!! *giggle*
Enjoy the rest of the evening!

Heather, will keep your husband's grandpa in our thoughts.

Duke has had fleas so bad this summer. We've tried everything. Had to finally dip him. It has helped. I just hate using the chemicals but he had dug himself raw.

Some of you asked what Kayleigh's poster said. Here is a closer picture. Down the sides it says Spread Love Not Hate; the little finger says "Tell an adult"; next "Stand up for others"; next "Tell the bully to stop"; then "Ignore the bully; the thumb says "Together we can stop bullying" and the palm "Be a buddy not a bully".
