I'm back!!! Of all topics to find on the page is SPIDERS!!! It was too funny for me. I have a ton of them here for some reason and constantly battle with it. I opened the kitchen door to go to the basement to do some laundry and it was nothing but spider webs with HUGE daddy long legs every where. I'd had enough, got the broom and started wacking them out LOL
Patsy - received my teas this week. Thank you!
Things have been there usual busy here. Jasper turned 2 on the 7th of August!!!! I can't believe he's that old. Jordon gave him a haircut and he looks so old it makes me want to cry....grandma isn't ready for him to grow up. His mom took him for 9 days and he's been a mess since.... major terrible 2 tantrums...she actually called Jordon claiming Jasper was running her ragged and was going to put her in the hospital and she was going to miscarry (I thought when you're 8 months pregnant that's called premature delivery not a miscarriage). He was sleeping in his own bed before he went and now refuses to sleep in it .... climbs into my bed himself when he's ready to go to sleep. I've got that boy way too spoiled because he also grabs the lotion and hands it to me so he can get his massage. He'll lift his shirt for his belly massage .... flip over for his back massage ... and push his feet up on me for his foot massage LOL. I've created a monster!!! LOL She supposedly was to have a c-section this week so she hasn't taken him in a month and probably won't any time soon which is both a curse and a blessing. I'm sure she's going to claim she can't handle taking care of 2 kids next. I was surprised the state went after her already for back child support - she can't handle $14/month. She lied to them initially when they notified her saying that Jordon said she didn't have to pay it LOL His lawyer got that corrected quickly.
I've got a lead on another job at the credit union. If I don't find something soon I'm seriously thinking about moving to Bismarck or Fargo for better job selection. As much as I enjoy small town life it just doesn't have a lot of jobs to offer.
I bought a kayak! I'm in love with it lol. I'm registered next month for a Wild Outdoor Weekend for women only. I'll be taking my kayak with. I'm scheduled for 2 sessions that I'll use the kayak in. I also registered for Wild Edible Plants and cooking them and Geocaching. I'm really looking forward to it. Okay - need to get some cleaning done before lil dude shows up. Have an awesome weekend everybody!

Tammy, Jasper is a lucky little boy to have such a good granny. Can't believe his mom is having another baby. Post a pic of Jasper's haircut.

Cheryl...thanks for the tip on the Cherry Juice...will have to get him some.
Prairie Tammy...so happy for you doing the Wild Outdoor Weekend...that sounds like it will be a load of FUN! Congrats on getting your own Kayak too. More fun to own one than have to rent them. Can't wait to hear how your Weekend turns out. Prayers for the Credit Union job possibility. ~ Hard to believe Jasper is 2 already!!! I didn't remember that his mom was pregnant again. Oh, mercy...who will she pawn that child off to??? When it gets too much for her to handle? ~ I know what you mean about wanting to keep them little. My youngest grand-daughter doesn't turn 2 until Dec. but I want her to stay just like she is right now. She is my little doll baby. And probably my last one! Mom and Dad decided they are good with two.
Hi Nora...how has your week been?
Teacher Tammy...how was your first week of School? Hope those little Butterflies weren't to exhausting on you.
Well, I feel better the last couple of days. That is one thing about snuggling up to Papa God when you are having a bad stretch...he just wraps you up in His big Strong Arms and holds you close to his heart. He is My Safe Place.
Had a good Office Visit with my husbands Brain Specialist. He is very encouraging to me...but also is brutally honest that things probably will get worse and not better. And I get that! But I just didn't think it was going to be so hard watching the Love of Your Life Physically and Mentally and Emotionally fall apart...and get mean and cranky to boot!! It is hard to remain strong and fearless when you are slipping on eggshells every day. But God will get me through this...I TRUSt Him!!
Well, need to go crawl in bed and read awhile. Hope everyone has something exciting planned for your weekend. Just enjoy! And keep all our Southern Sisters in your prayers. This Hurricane is going to reek Havoc for days and weeks!
Blessings and Hugs, Peggy

Cheryl- good point!! I will use my mag cream!! Thanks for reminding me.
Patsy- got my tea package thank you!!!
Peggy- hope you are having a better day.
Whew, I've had a busy week!! Mom came out monday to watch the eclipse with us. Unfortunately it was cloudy but we could sort of see it. It didn't get really dark (my house was in 98% ) but it got dim and sort of orange. So that was fun. I finally got booked to teach an ESL class...not just one class but every slot I had opened for the week got booked overnight Sunday night!! I did NOT expect that. I had opened quite a few spots hoping that would increase my chances SOME would get booked but I didn't expect them all to so I was VERY busy doing that in the mornings. I am very tired today!! And I have opened a lot less spots from now on lol. It has been fun teaching so that is good just need to pace it a little better for now.
Last Sunday we went to check out the AHG troop I had planned to put the girls in. A Trail Life troop meets and the same place and time that David could have done but people were extremely rude to us. Multiple people at different times, and nobody spoke to us unless we spoke first or introduced themselves or anything so we have decided not to do that. Unfortunately, it means Dave will have to wait a while to do scouts but I just can't bring myself to go when people were not friendly or kind. I'm really pretty flabberghasted by it honestly.
My Onyx hasn't come back, we got rid of all the kittens and at least one of the mama cats is pregnant again, poor thing! Of the 7 chickens we have left out of the 12 we got back in February five of them are roosters!! So we will be butchering most of those soon. And now the hens I have (I have 14 hens total but not sure 2 of them have started laying yet) we are only getting about 4 eggs a day so I don't know what is going on with them. I'm wondering if the older chickens are getting ready for their molt. They need to make more eggs!!!
My garden efforts failed this year but the compost pile grew a lovely acorn squash vine and we have 13 acorn squash so far with more little ones still growing. The pear trees are producing wonderfully and one of the apple trees but the peach trees and other apple trees hardly had any fruit and no grapes on our vines this year. I don't have time to can unfortunately so we are just eating what we can fresh.
Baby is getting fussy, gotta run!

PeggyAnn, had an uneventful week. But I did lose my mind and got a puppy - Jack Russell/Mini Pincher mix. Think I've lost my mind. The cats are ready to leave home. Remember that you and your poor husband are in our thoughts and prayers.
Sabrina, do you have your chickens with enough light. They lay better with 15 hours of light. I have a light in the coop on a timer to come on at from 5 to 8 morning and evening. That usually gets me plenty of eggs during the winter.

Hello, all! I wanted to let you know I started a thread in "Across the Fence" about a card shower for a 96 year old friend of a friend. Her 96th birthday is September 25th. She has no family and lives alone. She is a former women's baseball team player, and I have copies of news articles in the other thread. If anyone would like to send her a card, please let me know via a MJF email and I will send you her address. I'd like to try and get 96 cards sent to her for her birthday. Thanks, all!

Nora, I figured since it is still summer the light was still fine? It starts getting light at 6 and stays light until nearly 9 still....do you think that is not enough? I planned to add a light on a timer once the days started getting short. We are still only getting 5ish eggs. Which is really annoying since I'm feeding 20 birds!! (5 rooster and 1 guinea included). Ugh! I WANT MORE EGGS!!!! :)
My teaching schedule is a little slower this week and a LOT slower next week but I'm thinking/hoping I found a happy amount to do and still maintain sanity!
Hope you are all doing well!

Are your chickens in a pen all the time? Mine roam free during the day and sometimes lay on the creek bank or under things and I loose eggs that way, Sabrina. The coop may not be light all of those hours that it is light outside.

Hi My Porchies...
I am so glad The Porch is busy!! I am just on here for a moment to say...I have some kind of little bug today. Went with hubby to a Dr. Appointment, then to Barnes & Noble while he ran errands and got a blood draw, then I came home with a headache, stomachache, and just feeling yucky. So, I read all the chatter but now I need to go rest a few minutes. We have really bad Air Quality here...the worst in the Country...even worse than LA...now that is bad!!! Even worse than Japan. That could be why I feel yucky...I don't know...but I can't walk in this Air Quality Alert because of my own Heart Condition. So...hanging in here with a book and cool drink.
Miles of Smiles, Peg

Howdy all, I hope this finds you well. Been busy with my butterflies this week as we get into routine. Checking on family in Houston. My dad is about 120 miles northeast of there and so far had power and was still in his home. But the rain was beginning to hit their area. Prayers for all it is my home state and just saddens my heart especially since I was home just this past June.
Peg hope you feel better soon.
It has been beautiful weather here. Our state fair is this weekend so will probably spend a day at it. Grandson is showing his pig in open class and wants us to come.
Just wanted to pop in and say hello. Now time for this teacher to get ready for bed. The butterflies keep me flying on my toes. love and blessings, Tammy

Had a little rain yesterday and a couple of showers today. I got my towels off the line on time but not the colored clothes. One of my new layers got slaughtered by a vehicle this morning. I found out that Duke is a fair weather pup. Could hardly get him outside at all yesterday in the wet.
Well time to walk the dog and have some tea.

Hi My Porchies...
We have horrible Air Quality Conditions as we now have 2 Fires Blazing in the Gorge. So we have low visibility and ash coming down non-stop. I live the Farthest away from it as it is coming out of the East and I live on The West Side of the City. But we are still getting it really badly. Hard to breathe, getting headaches and coughing. I can't be out in it for very long. Only long enough to take the dog potty. about 4 times a day. We still are doing lots of Dr. Appointments for my husband. He had one today but I went to the Book Store to get a little Me Time. My son stayed home from work because he didn't sleep at all last night from the heat. Then he slept all afternoon and evening...so I am expecting him to be up all night again. BUT he better go to work tomorrow or my husband will have a hissy fit. Tomorrow I have to go with him to the Dr. as they want my opinion on his new antidepressant medication. It started out good this week but is slowly going back to the same old same old.
Becky...I got my tea...smells wonderful! And the Tuck is just plane Adorable! Thank you so Much!!! I'm still not drinking hot teas as we are still in triple digits but soon it will be fall and I will enjoy them all once again.
It is quiet on The Porch but a lot is going on in people's lives...all over the Country. So, I kind of understand it.
Off to bed...I have a headache and cough from the smoke but still going to try to read a bit.
Love, Hugs and Many Prayers For All, Peggy

Dear Friends, we need Prayer here too! Patsy's Father-in-Love just died! He was 90 and we knew it was coming. I've known him since I was 13. He and his wife joined Amway with my Dad&Mom way back in the 70's. He was a WONDERFUL man and at one time a preacher. He kept his license up and married 2 of our kids, the girls, plus numerous cousins too. He was like a Dad to Patsy because he showed fatherly wisdom, gave advice and wasn't afraid to give hugs or cry with you when needed. The family is really hurting! Thanks Gals!
Becky, I got my tea package. They smell wonderful. Don't know which one to try first. We've been having cold temps and lots of reasons for Hot tea.(sorry about your triple digits Peg) Love the tuck! Keeping you all in my Prayers! My poor stressed body picked now for my shingles to kick in(on my left side of head again) and a sloppy cold on top of that! WOW! When it rains... it pours!

My poor hardheaded puppy got attacked by Roger the rooster this morning. I've told Duke to leave the chickens alone. Bet he hasn't learned his lesson. Everyone be careful with all the weather out there.

Nora, they are in a pen, I wish I could let them free range but we live right on a very busy road so it isn't safe :(. I think the days shortening may be the issue though. Debating putting a light on a timer or just dealing with it.
Becky got the tea package LOVE the tuck, I've been looking for patterns for something like that :).
Things are going ok here. I'm getting in the swing of teaching a few classes a few mornings a week and finding a routine that works for me and the kids. Today is my oldest's 12th birthday. So we have been celebrating and tomorrow we are going to my mom's going to the zoo down there she has been asking to go to (she went with her zoo program this summer but they didn't have much time so she wants to go back and spend more time looking at everything) and having dinner with my mom and spending the weekend at her house.
My work with OCC is going well, we have added 2 new drop off locations and are working on a third possibility and I've added a Student relations coordinator. We still have a lot of growing to do on our team but it is going well and is exciting!
Not much else new going on here. Which I'm totally ok with!!! LOL Only a couple more months and I won't be doing this parenting thing alone anymore!

Hi My Porchies...Oh, My Goodness Girls...I had an extraordinary day with God Making His Presence and His Actions so intimately known to me...that I am just so blown away. It started out a very bad day with hubby ranting about me not contributing 200.00 (like I usually do) to our food bill for the month. He had me in tears until I went and and wrote down the very legitimate things I needed to spend that $ on this month. Later after reading my list and being reminded on just how little I get On Social Security he came out and apologized. But this was after God and I spent our morning time together. And in my Devotional and through my prayer time last night and today ... God reminded me that the very circumstances I would be stressing over today, he already knew about them before I told him about them (which I know, but need that occasional reminder) and that He would take care of each of them for me TODAY because He loves me. Stressor #2 Then my husband and I had decided to go talk to our Property Manager about Patrick being here almost full time now because of his gout etc, and she was so Gracious, and lovely and understanding and compassionate about it. And she said, "I have known you and Larry for nearly 20 yrs. through Church and here and I Trust You to Completely." Again, I walked away saying Thank You God for having my back. Larry and I also had prayed about it together before we went down to the Office to talk to her. #3 Stressor...Pat has had some DUI's in the past and can no longer drive. So, he has used a State Id. Card to cash his work checks. He was having a gout flare on his birthday and let the ID Card expire because that was the furthest thing from his mind...so he had no way to cash his check. He asked me when he got home if my bank would allow him to sign his check over to me and then cash it for him. I told him I was pretty positive that they did not deal with 3rd party checks...but if he came with me I would at least ask. Well, the teller said, I don't think so but I will go ask the Bank Manager..when she came back she said, "Yes, he will allow it this time but this time only." Again because we have banked with them so long is what I was thinking...but in all truth it was God doing the Impossible to show ME..."Daughter, I know your circumstances before you even ask...but because you talked to me about them, I want to show you how delighted I am to deal with all your problems today. And all those things that were stressing you turned out to be blessings from Me...just because I Love you and I care about what you care about." AWE...........He is so Amazing! And I have thanked Him so many times today...for showering me with His Unfailing Love. I just had to share that with you girls. Don't ever think He is listening to YOU because He Is!
Praying for all of you!
Hugs and Joy, Peggy
