Shanda I'm so sorry to hear about your son. That has got to be the hardest thing a parent can experience. My prayers go out for him that he finds a donor soon. And that you continue to have the strength to continue giving him excellent care. |

Hey ladies! Just jumping on here for a minute. Went to the OB today and ended up being monitored. Emi's heart rate is really high :( They think it is due to me being so dehydrated so often, but I have to keep a close eye on her. Please pray! We are only 31 weeks along. The heat is really killing me this summer!

Wow I'm so behind!!! I'm going to have to reply to things on each page until I'm caught up so please forgive my three posts in a row!
Shannon-I was on tricare standard because that is the only way to have a homebirth (or even choose your own midwife). So when the whole mastitis thing started I hadn't switched back yet. GOOD NEWS though, I went to talk to someone at tricare and she called the hospital and their billing department is trying to get it forgiven so hopefully I don't get another bill, she said if I haven't heard from them in 4 weeks then I don't have to pay :).
Peggy-you absolutely get bonus points!! When we were in the states I was on tricare standard so I could see whoever I wanted and file the bills, there was more out of pocket costs but it was worth it. However here with not understanding the medical system and the communication barriers it isn't worth it. I just have to deal with it until we move back.

Shanda how's your son doing today ? Peggy I was thinking of your husband last night. I suffer from depression also. Was able to get a good doc so I'm good as long as I take my antidepressants. If I skip more than one dose I know it #128546;. So I completely understand were he's coming from. Has he seen anyone for a little help? |

Hello, Porch Sitters! Happy 4th of July! Today we are taking an RV and parking at a local First Monday Trade Days in Canton, TX for tonight and tomorrow night. And, of course, I will probably help support the economy by buying something I want but really don't need. LOL! Then Saturday we are going to a friends to celebrate the 4th with family and friends - fireworks and good food and company. And Sunday we are going to my boyfriend's son's house to see them. What is everyone else doing to celebrate? Hugs and prayers to everyone who needs the support right now. You know we are here for you! Have a safe and happy 4th!

Well ladies, I guess I did need to slow down and it was decided for me. I finally got something from the German govt about my tax number and they want all sorts of info including a pre-payment of taxes. That isn't going to work for me so I'm giving up. I won't be applying for HBB status. I have been having stomach pains and I think my body is telling me to slow down so I will. When I started the business stuff I didn't expect Classical Conversations to take off the way it has and it is taking much more of my time right now. Plus I want to work on my writing (or figure out what I'm supposed to be writing at least) and still have time for other hobbies and to enjoy my kids. So I'm ok with all this.
We are probably going to have some friends over for the 4th just a casual get together. Hubby doesn't do fireworks and I'm not sure my kids could stay up till 10:30 to watch them anyway. It will be very low key.
I still have some things I need to get done before hubby leaves. Primarily making the baby some bibs and balancing the bank account!
We went to a couple castles yesterday. We had to pay for four adults at the first because that was their minimum group size, after walking probably a mile up a hill to get to it we were darn well going to see it!! And who knew when another group would come through. It was only 12 euros so really not horrible. The second one was closed so we only got to walk around the outside. I'll try to post some pics later.
Gotta go, baby is crying!

RoDonna , Welcome back to the porch. I just came back myself not to long ago. Life and all.
Shanda, I will put your son on my prayer list that there will be a donor soon. I understand the cancer road, I went down it with my sister. I took me awhile to come back to the forum. It seemed it just was a rollercoaster for awhile. But I managed to find my way back and I am glad you have too!

Happy 4th of July everybody! Thought I'd jump on while Matt is trying to figure out why our ice machine isn't working. It wasn't going well when I started this but he's making progress.
We went to the 4H Fair last night. They had a nice band playing that was free so we stayed until nearly 11 listening to them. Jordon texted me asking if we'd like tickets for the rodeo today so we may go watch that this afternoon. We'll see how Tip (my male border collie) does today to determine whether to go or not. I took him in last week and got him some medication for his anxiety issues and it's been helping a lot. It definitely has reduced the panting, pacing and drooling. We also plan on pulling out our camping stuff and figuring what we will need for the trip to MN later this month.
It's been a busy couple weeks. I volunteered to train in radiology for work to add another major specialty to my list so I've been in the office half days for two weeks training. Matt got put on days for two weeks to train also so our schedules have been majorly out of wack. He still has one more week of training and he'll be done.
He went back for his 3 month checkup Thursday and they're extremely happy with his recovery. Next check up will be in 3 months for his 6 month post op. So good news on that front. His xrays show he's healing well.
Reading: I was at Wally World shopping a couple weeks ago and noticed Christine Feehan had come out with a new book, Cat's Lair, that I grabbed up. It's a spin off her Carpathian series featuring the leopard shifters. I have never been so disappointed in a book or writer in my life. This was a piece of porn. It should have come with a XXX rating on it. Her books can be a bit descriptive but this went way beyond. I also was not happy with the whole relationship model as I felt it was an abusive type relationship. It was similar to 50 Shades of Gray in that the guy was controlling and manipulative to get his way with the excuse it was because of his panther side. If you're a Feehan fan then beware with this one. I honestly doubt I'll be buying any more of her books if she's changed her writing to this model. I haven't read a regular romance other than Amish ones in quite a while and now I'm reminded why. You can't skip the scenes either as their on nearly every page. The language was very course/gutter too.
I haven't had a ton of time to read lately but have gotten some in. I just finished Making Space - Creating a Home Meditation Practice by Thich Nhat Hanh. I've got two more I'm close to finishing and two I recently started LOL I was slowed down because Matt wanted to read a book on my Kindle. One of the guys he works with moved here from the Detroit area also and his son is a writer for a newspaper in Flint. The son wrote a book so Matt wanted to read it since it was free with my Unlimited membership. I hadn't realized I could read books from my Unlimited membership on my tablet so I learned something. You have to have a Kindle, but you don't have to read them on the Kindle. I like reading on my tablet as it's larger and because it's in color so I can see something other than black and white photos. Unfortunately two books I tried to go back and forth between my Kindle and tablet to read, it reset where I was to the beginning on both of them so I know have to figure out where I was in each book :O( Another lesson learned, don't try to go back and forth between readers.
Well Matt's about done with his project so I need to get in the kitchen and get some dishes done that he's been telling me for days he'd do and hasn't done so I can make lunch. Hope everybody has an awesome Holiday!

Happy Fourth of July (15 minutes late) LOL!!!
Didn't do much today. Hung out with my youngest and Elijah for a couple hours...then we went back to their place and Picked up Sadie and Her Mom and went over to Portland to eat...a late lunch at Fire On The Mountain (A Hot Wings Place). After that I had to have them drop me off so I could be home for the dog...who does terrible with the Fire Works. I gave him some Rescue Remedy Drops, wrapped him tightly in a small blanket and then literally held him for 6 hours straight. He weighs 25 lbs and so that is uncomfortable on my Muscles...but hey, you do what you have to do. I got up at Midnight and put him down on the floor...and somebody else started doing fire works. My husband yells, "You need to hold the dog longer he can't deal with this." I ignored him and he comes back in the living room, "Did you hear me?" "Yes, I heard you...I held the Dog for 6 hours straight...YOUR TURN!" Men!!!
It is starting to quiet down outside...so, in about 10 minutes I will try taking him out for his last potty break.
Tomorrow my DH is going over to our sons house to get the stuff out of their garage and decide what they are keeping and what they are giving to charity. I'm praying that my husband doesn't haul any of it here.
Prairie Tammy...I started the first Charlene Harris book about 4 years ago and I couldn't deal with the Vampire Sex in that book. I put it down about 4 chapters in and said, "Nope, I do not read Trash!" The thing that upsets me about those kind of books is that it is not Necessary for the book to be good. We have imaginations...we don't need the down and dirty details. Geesh! Glad to hear that Matt is doing better...healing well and all that. Is your son still with his girlfriend? And did she have the baby already?
Sabrina...sounds like God is whittling down your busy schedule for you. When I worked outside the home, Taught Bible Study, Women's Sunday School and attended Church 3 times a week. Plus husband and I were hauling kids to this sport thing and that sport thing. If my scheduled got insane...and was making me feel overwhelmed... before I knew it...God was canceling this thing and that and all of a sudden I had a manageable schedule for a week...just long enough to give me some much needed free time.
Denise...we are glad you are back on the Porch too.
Linda...sounds like your weekend was packed full of fun things to do. Glad to hear that you still have the boyfriend!!!
Shannon...praying for your dehydration issue and the baby. I bet the heat is killing you. Hoping and praying the move goes well on Monday!!! Don't work to hard!! My DIL has to stay on an Antibiotic for the rest of her pregnancy because of the Kidney Infection Issue she has.
Jackie...good advice for Shannon.
Grace...nice to have you on The Porch! Have you gone to Spokane yet this summer?
Patsy...glad that you and your sissy are having a good time together. That is wonderful! I'm Jealous!!! lOl
Teacher Tammy...Hope you are continuing to enjoy your summer with your boys. The next thing you know they will be headed off to school.
I got a really touching letter from my Stepson who is now in Jail waiting for his sentencing. It was full of sorrow and encouragement and I cry every time I read it. My husband and I are taking turns writing to him every week. This is all so hard!!!
Well, girls I'm tired tonight and I feel like I need to get up and move around for awhile. Sitting too long makes my muscles cramp.
Hugs and smiles, Peggy

Hi all, hope you are having a safe and happy 4th weekend. Patsy left Friday for a week with her daughters. Then she'll be back. Hubby worked yesterday so I did laundry and some housework. I don't mind. I don't like all the noise and crowds at fireworks anyhow. I did hear a lot of fireworks right around here which is unusual. Poor kitty hated that, hid under the bed all evening until I closed the windows, then he relaxed some. Keep safe! Love to all!

Peggy - I'm praying for you and your husband and your step son.
Judy - nice to hear Patsy will be back soon for a visit!
Please pray for the forest fires that have started here...last night they have started a bit away, and our sky is orange, covered in haze and there is soot on everything. You can just see a bit of the sun - it's all covered in the haze. It's quite eery.

Peggy, So sorry you have a doggie who is afraid of the fireworks. We have one here who hides when he hears any kind of engine and another who hates thunder storms. She will go outside in them and she is fine but when she is in the house all she does is pace and pant and shake all over. I feel bad for her.

Denise...have you ever tried the Thunder Shirt for your dog who hates Thunder Storms? You can buy them at most bet stores or under the brand name on line or at Amazon. I am thinking about getting on for my dog. They are about 20 dollars.
Joyce...thank you so much for your prayers! We have Fireworks on the Columbia River every year and this year they started a fire on the land where all the people gather to watch the display. We are having such a fire problem too. I will pray for your area and you please pray for ours. My son-in-law is a Firefighter (Spokane WA area) and the guys are already tired and worn out. Plus they have to wear all that heavy gear and our Temps. are in the high 90's and low 100's. That makes for really miserable working conditions.
Hugs, Peggy

Hey ladies, Hope you are having a great day. I was just taking a tea break. Trying a new one. I stumbles upon a tea shop when we were in the city yesterday and it was delightful. I am drinking a white tea called Raspberry White Champagne. It is very good. We spent the fourth with family at the lake and then went to fireworks. Yesterday was our anniversary so hubby and I spent the day at the old market, doing some shopping and hitting Barnes and Noble. I have to tell you something about Barnes and Noble that made me laugh. My hubby usually finds a book and chair to wait for me as he knows we will be awhile. He fell asleep in the chair and a salesperson told him no sleeping in the store. He said well waiting on wife and said was I snoring? They said well sleeping is not allowed. I found this very comical especially since he has done it everytime we have shopped there. He said they had too much time on their hands. I laughed. He said there are no signs that say sleeping is not allowed. Too funny
Today just doing a bit of school things and laundry. Peggy I know what you mean with your dog and fire works. My Jax did not like them either and then we had thunderstorms to which he really hates. so it was a stressful weekend for him.
well ladies I am going to enjoy my tea. Yall have a great day Love and blessings, Tammy

Tammy...BnN Employees have to tell people that...because so many homeless people come in and camp out in their stores. Sleeping, bathing in the bathrooms, pan-handling in the Cafe' etc. They have really put their foot down on all that. Your husband doesn't look homeless I'm sure...but my husband was told that a couple of times when he fell asleep while I was shopping. He doesn't do it any more...just stays in the Cafe with a good book and a Iced-Tea. LOL
I will have to see if I can find that tea. Is it a Bentley's Tea? I have a White Tea by them that is a Ginger Peach...and it is so good!!
Love and Hugs, Peggy

Oh Tammy, At least your husband saw humor in it.
Peggy, I have thought about the Thunder shirt but I can't imagine trying to get it on her. She is not very nice when it comes to things like that.

Peggy the tea I mentioned is not Bentley's not sure of company it came from a local tea shop I found here in my state. I didn't think of that at Barnes and Noble. I just thought it was comical after all these years he was told to not sleep. It made for a good laugh that is for sure. My sweet hubby has a great sense of humor.
hope yall are having a great day love to you all Tammy
