I now have 28 jelly jars and 6 pint jars of light purple violet jelly cooling on my table tonight. My little martha has been dancing through the kitchen all night singing 'fower sham! fower sham!' and eating her weight in toast. It's been fun.

First off, have a great weekend!!! It is so nice here on the porch, with the sun streaming in. All the talk about violet jelly, I haven't made it in years, but think I will harvest enough for a batch when the yard turns purple. One year we also made candied violets, they were yummy and great to decorate a cake.
Enjoy your day! I brought some waffles with strawberry sauce topping. Marcie

Violet jelly! YUM!! I have some homemade biscuits that I will bring if you will share some of that jelly! I have never had violet jelly! I've worked in the greenhouse and gardens most of the day and I am bushed! Please don't mind me if I dose off. Oh wait, I can't sit on the porch yet! I am 10 teenagers building a bon fire down at the lake. Gotta go make s'more's!!!

I have been quilting this afternoon. So I am taking a rest here on the porch. Violet jelly on some scones might be a nice treat.

I am here to consider learning a new craft. I want to learn to make aprons. I have an idea for one for my gardening. Any suggestions on how to learn? Do I need a pattern? Where would I get one? I don't even know how to use a sewing machine. I'm gonna enjoy a whole wheat bagel with violet jelly and a cup of coffee and see if anyone here has any suggestions for me. Such a nice night for sittin on the porch.

Angela -- I found some cute free patterns on the internet. Just search for free apron patterns. I looked for vintage patterns and found a few. We must be on the same wave length -- I've been thinking about learning to make them, too. My sewing skills leave a LOT to be desired, but I really want to learn, so I figure aprons can't be too complicated. Keep me posted on how yours turns out. Oh! I got your jelly recipe today, and can NOT wait to try it! I'll be sending you a recipe or two on Tuesday, when I finally get back to a net connection. All you ladies on the porch -- I just want to let you know how much I enjoy sharing this porch with you, and couldn't make it without y'all! Thanks for all your goodies. Thank goodness y'all have removed all the calories and fat grams from each dish and preserved the delicious flavors. Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to work out in my garden this week, for not having a single ounce of energy!!!!!!!!

Well, no one would want to sit on my porch today. The wind is blowing 35-45 mph, with 60 +mph gusts. I have so much dirt on my porch, I could grow a bumper crop of potatos, lol. We are supposed to have rain sometime tonight and tomorrow, so please keep you fingers crossed we do, cause this dry wind is playing hell on my flowers, plus I'm looseing alot of blossoms off my fruit trees, sigh............

I love sitting on my small patio which I call a Porch because of it's size. TINY! But it is all the size this Farm Chic needs to sit in my Red Rocking Chair put my feet up and breathe in the scent of my pretty little purple flowers (that I can't remember what they are called). Nothing easy like blue bells, or pansies or flaux, or bachelor buttons. Oh well, they smell wonderful and look so pretty. Have any of you ever made Lemon-Lavender Shortbread Tea Cookies? I bought some at Easter and they were sooooooo good! I would love a recipe for them if anyone has one. Thanks! Nice visiting with you on the Porch!

Just a few minutes to chat before I must go into town to the bank, getting ready for our trip to Virginia Beach later this week to visit with our son. We will be doing some gardening there, too.
When we get back from town, have to finish up some gardening here. I want to get some pansies in later today.
I'll just share a cup of morning coffee with you. Have a great day. Marcie

I have just come in from my porch...I re-potted some plants. Scattered some bachelor buttons out in the flower bed off the porch and wanted to just sit down and relax in my new Red Rocking Chair. BUT my dog Bella decided that she didn't like the new neighbor being on her porch or her dog Zenna either. My dog was so obnoxious (sp) that I ended up cleaning up my stuff and bringing my Novel and my dog back in the Apartment. Does anyone have a suggestion for getting a yappy dog to quit barking so much???? If I don't do something soon...it will be a long and lonely summer on the back porch. I'm now worn out from my dog...I think I will go take a nap and hope everything seems cheerier and quieter when I wake up.

I am sitting here in the middle of the night frustrated. My attempt at sewing is resulting in a lot of seam ripping. I'm here to take a break and try to relax. I think I'm in need of some tea.

Seam rippers untie!!lol I know the feeling Angela!! I was an ammature years ago (like girl scouts and home ec ago lol) But I am so inspired to sew again thanks to all of these talented women I have met over the past few months that i'm jumping in as soon as I find time..What are you making? I'm sure it will be beautiful and well worth it in the long run....especially the pride in knowing you did it with your own hands..keep up the good work and as soon as I'm brave enough ,and can find a spare minute I'll join you....but for this second I will enjoy the company of the porch and relax..it's a little chilly here so i'll make some hot lemon grass tea with some honey and share it with you all
Blessed are those who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused:) |

Well. I have finished my first project. It was a very ambitous project. I made an all-in-one diaper. It looks funny and the seams are showing, but I think it will work. I'm gonna try it on the baby as soon as she wakes up. For now I'm gonna relax and have a cup of coffee. I think I will review over some of my sewing books agian.

I just put a few bunches of grapes in a nicee depression bowl to share here on the porch. It is a little cool, so how about some chamomile tea. I'm getting packed and looking forward to our trip. We will be gone for a week. Marcie
