Evening ladies. It's been unbelievably busy of late. I started the new job! Tomorrow will be my first night on my own. I don't foresee any problems. I'm pretty excited to do it by myself so I can start to get my own system figured out.

My son was home on leave last week. I only got to see him 2 days. We had fun though. Wednesday night we had the customary homecoming meal of pizza burgers (family recipe) and taco salad. Saturday night we grilled venison backstrap since he'd never had venison and then went down to Greektown Casino. It's the first time I've ever been to the casinos in Detroit. Wow, great spot to people watch. I think we spent about $20 each on the machines and then listened to a band in one of the bars and people watched. Yesterday he flew back to Texas. We left just before he did and went to df's sister's for a BBQ and for df to fix her lawnmower. Enjoyable day but I got sunburned.

Friday night df had a surprise phone call from a company he'd applied to about 2 months ago, did an hour long phone interview with, and then got an email several weeks later stating they were going to continue their search for somebody with more ag experience. They called and the supervisor that he'd interviewed with gave his resume to the service department supervisor and told them to call him for a manager's position. He was all set for another hour long interview today but the supervisor shocked him and told him he wasn't going to bother, he was going to have his secretary call him tomorrow and set up a flight for him to come out and interview with him face-to-face and they're paying for a rental car too. The guy also told him that if df wanted he could set him up with a real estate agent to looking for housing. Are we reading to much into this that he's probably going to get a job offer? Did I mention the company is in North Dakota!!!!!! They want him out there immediately if they make an offer. They're willing to give him 2 weeks to finish up his job here but if he gets the offer that we anticipate it looks like I'll stay here and pack up and get things on this end ready and he'll find a place for us out there without me. Our heads are swimming at how fast this could go down!!!! Trying not to get too excited but it's hard. I feel horrible about taking this job and possibly having to quit so soon if this goes down.

Well I need to get my jammies on and try to calm down a bit. It's going to be hard to sleep if I don't lol I'll catch up with everybody tomorrow when I've had time to absorb all this. Have a great night everybody!

Tammy, that is great news. Praying that all goes well and you will be able to move. I know you both have been wanting this for a long time. Summer would be a good time to move.
Our tulips are just blooming here now, alot later than most areas in the country. My lily of the vallies are ready to pick, so hope to get out tomorrow to do that. My seeds I planted are starting to pop out of the ground now. That is a great sight to see. I love spingtime when everything is coming back to life.God is good.
Patsy, geocaching does sound like it would be fun. Hope you enjoy it.
I am tired, so heading to bed. Have a great evening,

My New Table From My Son! Nicest table I have ever owned! I just love it!

Mornen Porchies...I would have been on here an hour ago but I had to make and place my order for the 50 State Postcard Swap.
I love doing that swap.

Luanne...praying for your moma...at her age it is going to take her a long time to bounce back and be on her own again. Praying it will happen quicker than anyone can believe!

Cherime...glad to hear that the Flea Market went well for you. That is always a good thing.

Judy...yum on the Spanish Rice. My hubby asked me to make some this week (and I always make what he wants) but I have really been hungry for my home made spaghetti...so, I win this time! LOL I made the sauce today but we will have it tomorrow.
Today was payday and we treat ourselves to dinner out on each of our paydays.

Teacher Tammy...sounds like you are off doing all those busy things on your "honey do" list too. I love when the house smells Summer Fresh airing out all those stuffy smells from winter.
I know isn't my son just the greatest!
Wanted you to know that I finished The DressMaker and I really enjoyed it!! So, if it is on your reading list...get it!

Dianne...would love to send you warm sunny weather...but I think we are sending you the rain. It rained all day yesterday and suppose to do the same thing all week. Yuck!!! And Double Yuck!!!!!

Pam...you sounded really busy. Your home-made bread sounds good! Thanks for leaving us some on the Porch.

Patsy...I have heard of geocaching before, as they do it here in Washington State and Oregon too. Probably all over the Country. Sounds like a Blast!!! In my younger days (like in my 40's when I still hiked a lot) I would have thought that was just the coolest thing to do. Let us know what you girls think after you try it. Great excercise and maybe a little surprise to boot!

RFM Tammy...Wow girl, isn't that just how things happen? You think you make the right decision and then right out of left field you are totally confused with even more options.
Crazy World We live in. You will have to do what I decided and just "Live One Day at a Time"...decide to live in the moment and enjoy what today brings because tomorrow maybe turned upside down and side-ways. Who knows from one day to the next???

Janet...our tulips are long gone. Enjoy yours...they leave all too quickly. I have been taking pictures of all the flowers in this yard because I know we won't be here very much longer. This is such a beautifully established yard. I am just enjoying it everyday as long as i can. I LOVE EVERY KIND OF FLOWER!

Today...even though it rained...I didn't feel too bad Fibro wise. So, I made my spaghetti sauce, did 3 loads of laundry and did a lot of on-line business and straightened the house up a bit. I keep it pretty clean so just really have to pick up after hubby.

Have a wonderful Tuesday Girls and
Be a Blessing to Somebody today!
Hugs,
peggy

Hi Porchies,

Tammy, that is fabulous and amazing and encouraging! Wow!

Luann, praying for you momma too, and for you. This is hard on you.

Just wanted to tell you I'm better today. On Friday, a co-worker took me to a late birthday lunch at our favorite Thai place and she told me this absolutely huge revelation:
God loves me regardless of being messy. Messy is irrelevant. am not a guilty person because I am messy. I am not judged because I am messy. It is not a sin to be messy. I know, sounds sort of silly, but when she said it, I finally realized that was what I thinking and had been thinking all my life. What a concept. All messy is is darned inconvenient. And that's all.

That was a big help. Then yesterday I met with my prescriber, and we are upping my antidepressant.

It is raining here today. It's just lovely. IT is warmer because it's May, probably in the 50s instead of low 40s, so that's nice. I love rain. I woke up to hear it this morning, it's so comforting. and we need it. My pots were so dry, it was hard to water them. this will help, but I'll have to keep watering.

My friend came over Saturday and we organized my paper zone in the studio. It was piled with art papers big and small, so we have them all organized in the big flats, or hanging on the wall. Now I can pack them easily. There is still a ton of work to do in here, but every time I do something I think, "well, that was easy. What's the big deal?"

Dunno where i"m moving to yet. I'll be interested to see what it will be. I'd still like to have my own place. No arguments with landlords about removing the lawn, say.

I'll be checking in and catching up on all your interesting lives.

I want to apologize up front that I have not checked in sooner... it has been INSANE around here. I happen to have today off since it is my 6th anniversary where I work.

Been a busy day. Went and picked up my new dog... I adopted a Catahoula hound from the shelter where I adopted Newcomb. His listing stated he was a mix, but the lady at they have to say that when the dog doesn't have papers, and the lady at the shelter thinks he might be full blooded. Newcomb, by the way, is VERY mad, but he will get over it. Oddly enough, Train (the dog) is more afraid of Newcomb than Newcomb is of him!!! I'll post pics later, as I am mostly just checking in right now.

We are still working on the house. We were supposed to close last friday but the USDA is going so dang slow that we got pushed to next Thursday. As long as I can move soon, I'll be happy, happy, happy.

Working on utilities, going to start calling propane companies here in a bit. My head is splitting from a combination of allergies and not eating lunch and stress. It will all be worth it, and I just have to keep reminding myself of that.

Anyway, I have more news but not so much time :( Hope everyone is doing well!!! Miss you all much!!!!!

Hi Everyone

The wind is blowing and it is over cast and icky looking. It tried to rain last night but did not really do anything. The whole week is going to be like this. Not much will get done outside and I have a lot to do. Peggy how about sending some nice warm sunny weather my way?

Pam i guess I should not be complaining. At least we did not get snow! Poor Alberta!

Patsy we have freinds that go geocaching. My DH and i keep saying we are going to but so we have not gone. Let me know how you like it. It sounds like a lot of fun.

RFM Tammy I am glad you like the new job.So glad you got to spend time with your DS. Sounds like you had a great time.
Great news about the possible job. Keep us posted.

Peggy I love the table. I will keep asking for warm and sunny! I am with you on the yuck and double yuck on the rain. I am ready for summer!

Nan I will pray for your housing situation. It would be nice to have a place of your own. God will provide. That is what I keep telling myself everytime I get frustrated living in town.

Ihope it clears up a little. i would like to get some things done in the back yard. Oh well

Tammy sounds like some big changes in store for you. North Dakota is doing pretty well as a state. I hope everything works out the way you want.

Not much going on. Had a midterm trust today. Did ok...not great but at least a B. not much energy to do anything but homework and studying. I really miss my sewing room. At least summer is almost here. I'm not taking any classes this summer. I think I'm teaching at least on kids sewing class. They know I'm not thrilled about teaching little kids under 12 so I think they found someone else for the other classes. I would rather teach adults. I need to get my courage up and pi
It together a proposal to possibly teach a beginning sewing class for the adult community classes at the college here. That would be awesome.

Well, time for a nap. Later all.

Evening ladies,
Just got home from bible study. It is a study I have done before and what surprised me was that I got something totally different out of it and I knew God planted me here for this. This is a new group of ladies I have been with for few weeks now and they have so made me feel like I have always been part of the circle and today we gained a few more ladies. I believe God is got something in mind.

Peggy I have added the dressmaker to my nook list to read as soon as I finish my current reads. It sounds wonderful.

Bunny hope your test went well.

Miranda so glad to see you here for short spell. Praying your house gets closed on soon. I know the whole process can get long but it will be worth it.

RFM Tammy glad about your job.

WEll ladies I am off for some tea to wind down the day. Oh I forgot I learned the double crochet stitch today. I am almost ready to start a project. Iw ill try to post a picture tomorrow if I can get my camera to work.

love to you all

I had a busy day today, thoroughly cleaned my livingroom and re arranged the furniture. I know I should not do all that, but if I wait for Bob to help, he grumps too much, so I do it when he is at work. It just takes me longer, which is okay. I got it done. Took a hot shower, so hope to wake up with no aches or pains in the morning. I will catch up with you all tomorrow. Have a great evening,

This is my newest fur-baby, Train. I got him as a rescue. He was listed as a Catahoula Leopard Dog Mix, but I believe that he may be a purebred Catahoula (and I have always referred to them as Catahoula hounds).

If anyone is curious, no, he did not make the stain in the back of my truck, that was already there when I bought it, haha! And the stick is just so I can hold the back hatch open.

He's doing very well, considering. He's a bit scared of the cats, but like Penny a lot (he was apparently brought in with a small dog, so that makes sense). He loves Josh, and has already started figuring out, I am his Momma.

Got a lot done today... setting up my insurance, got the electricity started, and the internet, got my DirecTV set to move. Now all I have to do is look into propane and get the water turned on, and we're set. As long as we don't have to reset our closing date again.

Wish us luck, y'all!!!

Good evening Gals! Well, yesterday didn't go quite as planned because we got a late start and had to run an errand first. So we went to Hartville instead, which is more of a Mennonite town instead of Amish country. It use to be Amish before they all moved farther south. But we still had a nice day with great weather. They built a new Hardware there that is so big that it houses a couple of full-size...well....houses inside of it. Amazing! When we first went inside I saw a 1 room log cabin and thought...hmmmm....Lincoln's home? Then when I went toward the back to look for DH(he always wanders off*giggle*)I saw a house. What in the World!!! Hubby said there was another one behind it.I guess it was to advertise their wares. Strange. You could walk thru them as if you were ....well....home! lol
Then we went to their indoor/outdoor fleamarket and to the Hartville Kitchen for supper. It was a great day out for us. When we came home we planted some flowers and all the tiny tomato plants I started indoors. They all did well. We covered them with deer mesh so the ornery grackles and bluejays would leave them alone. They just love to snip off seedlings just for the sport of it. *giggle*
This morning we finished planting all the posies. Then it sprinkled for about 20 minutes. Thank You God for watering for us. *giggle*
Tomorrow morning if it stays clear and dry we will decorate our patio for summer. We hang lots of windchimes and summer critters and windsocks on and around the patio and backyard. We enjoy such things all summer and fall.
Well, I'm all in for today.
Goodnite to all!

PS.Mirada, I was writing when you were. So I just had to come back and say what a handsome pooch you got there! lol Love his eyes!
Lucky you...Lucky dog!

Evening Porchies...

Tammy... sign up for my Porch Give-Away of the Dressmaker.
Who knows maybe you will win it and won't have to buy it.
Glad you are loving your new bible study group. And Woot Woot on moving to double crochet. You are ready for a Project girl. A simple dishcloth or neck scarf would be easy and fun!

Judy...can't believe you didn't sign up for the book give away girl. It was a good read and nothing naughty in it at all.

Miranda...never heard of that breed of dog before but he looks like a Sweetheart! Love those eyes! Beautiful! Why the name Train?

Janet...you sound like me, if I want something moved I just do it while hubby is gone. Takes longer but there is no hassle that way and I don't end up getting mad at him or visa versa. Hope you don't have any aches or pains tomorrow.

Boy Ruthie Ann you must be up to your ears in cleaning out...since we haven't hardly heard from you. Come on take a break...you deserve it.

Bunny...aren't you soooooo ready for summer and a break from all that homework??? I would be. How did the pet volunteering go? And how is your strawbale gardening going?

Today, hubby and I paid bills and ran errands. Did some much needed shopping, then came home for a couple hour nap.
After that I made my spaghetti and boy was it good. I ate too much because I had been craving it but I enjoyed every mouth full.

Off to read and get some good sleep. I haven't been in terrible pain with this Rain System but really fatigued.

Sleep tight and NO
BED BUGS please! LOL

hugs and loves,
peggy

Miranda, what a lovely dog you have there. He looks happy. Good luck with closing. Hopefully you will not have to change dates again. Are you packed and ready to go? HEHE
Judy, that must be a big hardware store to fit in 2 houses, wow!!!!! Glad you had a good getaway even though it was not where you were planning. Going out to lunch make it worth it, right?
Peggy, love the new table. It looks so nice there where you have it. I have a round one, huge, and wish I had a smaller rectangle one, but it cost us an arm and a leg, so we are stuck with it for a couple more years, anyway. The spaghetti sounds yummy. I need to make some soon.
Time to get dressed and get the day going. More later,

Peggy sign me up for the Dress maker book giveaway. I am off to your blog to see what else you been reading. I was going to post a picture of my little room I have for myself and my crochet but my camera is not working right. For the life of me I can't figure out why it isn't. So will have to have hubby take a loook at it and see if he can figure it out.

Time for lunch
love to you all

A lot of people have not heard of Catahoula hounds because they're not a widespread breed. They originated in the southland, Louisiana and such. They're awesome dogs, gorgeous and very loyal.

He was a rescue of sorts, and I don't know much about his history, and we kind of think that he might have been abused by his former owners. He shies easily, but he's learning that Josh and I are here to love and take care of him.

His name was Train when I adopted him... I'm assuming for his size and stature. He's slender in the back with a wide massive chest that's typical of a catahoula. Normally people change the names, but it's not a bad name for him. Plus, a good friend of mine was in the southern rock band Blackfoot back in the 70s, and one of their most popular songs was "Train, Train". Lemme tell ya... that song went through my head DOZENS of times when I looked at his Petango profile!

As far as the house, I THINK this is a solid date, but I am asking the realtor just in case. I'll let y'all know more as stuff comes along.

Got a text from Josh... Train tried to sit on his lap and ended up pushing Josh off the couch and onto the floor. Oh, he's going to be fun!

Well, I better finish up some ppwk before lunch... will share more with everyone later!!

Hi everybody -

Mom was transferred from Dartmouth Medical Center to a rehab facility yesterday. She is very weak, and can't walk or get up and down without assistance. We are praying she will gain enough strength back that she will be able to go home. She is so independent, that she hates the thought of having to come and stay with me in PA. Also, I don't know how I can go back to work and still care for her. I guess it will all work out however it is supposed to.

Peggy - I'd love to be part of your book drawing!

Thanks for all your prayers and good wishes.

Good Afternoon All

Bunny Congrats on the "B"!

Janet I wish I had your energy.

Miranda He is adorable. My DD's fiance has a dog that is part catahoula, he is all black but the head is a lot the same as your dog.

Luanne keeping your momma in my prayers.

Lynette every time you think about your daughter give your other kids at home a hug. That is what I did when my oldest moved out. It was harder than I thought it would be. Now the youngest is about ready to go. i will cry with you when she moves out.

There has been some sun but mostly over cast with a cool breeze.

Hi! Girls,
I miss being here on the porch. But life has been busy and sad the week. On Friday evening I lost Gram Helen. Not really sure what I will do with my weekends now. So last Saturday we took Little One to the pet expo. She was spoiled with treats. Then we went lunch at Wendy's of course Little One got a cheeseburger. After lunch we went Lowe's. Little One and I shopped for flowers and garden vegetables. While Dean and Katy went to the pool store. On Sunday we got up early and planted the garden. I have worked this week 24 hours already and today we laid Gram Helen to rest. What a beatiful day it was. Im working tomorrow and going to the dr. for a follow up .
Janet- So gald you like you door sign. I did help paint that one but it came from a diect
sale company. We have like 200 clips. For those baskets.
Peggy=The dog park is a acre fenced area. As far as the bag swap. It doesn't have to be sewn.
Hope everyone is doing well,
Ruthie Ann

Hey Porchies.

I'm back and exhausted. This has been a horrible week. I've been fightin with everyone, includin myself. And I got bad news to boot.

I've been fightin with myself and this almost manic thing. I sit around on the couch mopin, then I jump up and am racin to get everything done at once. Like today, I sat around almost all day just feelin blah. I barely even got dinner done. Then, at 9 at night I've got homemade chocolate sauce goin on the stove, the fridge standin open cause I'm sortin the leftovers to clean it out, and I'm workin up a shoppin list by sortin the cabinets lookin for missin things! What in the world?!?

I've been feelin this way for a while, it just seems to keep gettin worse. And I don't know for sure if I'm just bein snarky, or if everyone in this house is in need of a break. We haven't really done much more than housework and watch tv for like a month now. We haven't had the money or the time to go anywhere or do anything. I don't know if that's it, or if it's just me.

I feel better after these flurries of work, but only for a while. Then it's back to blah. I don't really seem to be gettin much accomplished durin the whirlwinds either. The community garden isn't finished. The porch pots aren't finished. The kitchen still needs reorganized. The boxes of pictures and decorations aren't emptied. Only about half our stuff has been moved over here. The back porch is a piled up mess. The basement is a maze of empty boxes and crates and shelves piled with jumbled up messes.

I'm not really finishin anything and it's buggin the crud out of me!

Then I get a call about my grandma. She fell last week and hasn't really been doin very good. The dr says he thinks her kidneys are bruised and they aren't functionin properly. He gave her a shot and sent her home. He said with her medical history and age, there was nothin else he could do for her. Either they would heal on their own or they wouldn't. She isn't drinkin much, she says she can't eat, and my aunt says she's dehydrated. My aunt is a nurse so she does most of the medical watchin for the whole family. She's there everyday and says there might not be much more time. Grandma was diagnosed with a tumor around her brain stem about 14 years ago, they gave her 5-7 years, so I guess we should be thankful she's had the time she has. It still is drivin me crazy!

I made a gallon of green tea with honey and took it to her. She loves sweet tea and I thought the green tea might help to flush her kidneys and the honey might possibly soothe them some. I know it's graspin at straws, but I had to try. She only drank about a half a cup. I left grandpa with the extra tea bags, the bottle of honey, and directions on how to make more. I'm not sure what else to do.

Then there's this bday party this weekend for my middle DD, my BIL, and me. It's supposed to start at 1 saturday, but hubby's aunt is comin over an hour early. I'm pretty ticked about it. She keeps callin hubby and sayin she needs to talk to him just her and him. I hate this stupid secret stuff. It very nearly split us up once before. She just keeps insistin and he keeps tellin her no, he doesn't do the secret thing from his wife. Then she gets hateful with me and makes lots of snotty comments when she knows I'm around to hear them and hubby isn't. I just know her comin over early is gonna wind up in a fight and ruin this party. It's the first party we had that I'm not doin all the cookin for. I ordered tamales from this great restraunt we saw on 'Diners, Drive-Ins, & Dives'. The only thing I'm makin is the potato salad. Hubby's makin all the other sides and doin all the cookin that day. I've waited 15 years for this. I've done my own and the families bday parties since the we got married.

I swear, if she starts in about it I'm throwin her out. I know that will cause a huge fight, but it will be later and not while my whole family is there like last time. We had a cookout and she actually made a bunch of her snotty comments and then suddenly my sister and her family left without sayin bye. I called her after everyone left and she said hubby's aunt had made a really nasty comment about me to my MIL and she heard it. She told her it wasn't appropriate and hubby's aunt snorted and said it was obvious she was cut from the same cloth. So my sister left.

It was a huge fight and nearly 6 months before we managed to get everyone together agian. I won't go through it at this party. It's very special and much more expensive than any party we've ever thrown. Not to mention I'm dyin to try these tamales and I won't have her upsettin me and makin me sick at my stomach. I always get sick when things are goin bad. Not this time. I refuse! I've already told hubby exactly what I plan to do and he said he would totally back me up. He said if she makes a scene or causes problems he won't ever invite her over agian. I just really need this to be a good day. I need things to be easy. I sound like I'm makin excuses or askin for permission. That's not right. I'm standin up for myself. I'm standin up for my family. I have the right to protect myself and mine and I will.

I'm tryin to be more assertive and not let myself get walked on so much. I think my bday is as good a day as any to draw the line. I stood up to my MIL a few weeks ago when she started makin unreasonable demands of hubby's time and now it's time to call a halt to all the silliness and back bitin from everyone. I think someone needs to.

My goodness! I've ranted and rambled a novel here! I'm sorry. I guess I really needed to get some of this off my chest. I do feel a little more relaxed. I think bein worried about the fightin and grandma's health is just too much pressure all at once. We will all get a break of sorts in a few weeks. The girls are goin with my mom to church camp for a week. Hubby and I will have 8 days for just us and he's talkin about takin a day or 2 off from work so we can actually spend some time together. That might be nice.

Well, I guess I really should get myself to bed. Thanks for listenin.
