I am thinking we need to send a search party to the outhouse to look for her. Where on earth is she? Leaves us all hanging...
Whoa, maybe thats what she wants, to split us up and then maybe there is a booger to get us??? Hummmm maybe we better stay RIGHT here.

saw all you gals all cozied up here on the porch... mind if i join ya? i just made some zucchini and banana-chocolate chip bread today, so i thought i'd share! i need a hot drink to warm myself up after being outside putting my garden to bed... is there any hot apple cider left? that really sounds good! i know what you mean alee - we may get a bit of snow tonight as well, but not that much!

Alee, I think you better mover over here to my corner of the porch, it is closer to the heater. Even at that it will be in the low 50s which is kinda chilly for us Texans.

...not Mama nor the boy spoke of hearing the girls' voices comin up over that hill. They both heard it clear as a bell. The girls came along about an hour later.... that was one incident.
That very same year, late in the summer, fall was upon us and it was startin to get mighty cold in the night. Mama made the girls go in the kitchen to fetch a pan of water for them to go out on the porch and wash their feet. The boy asked his sisters, "who's gonna go first?" and of course the girls did. The boy said he'd go last and that way he could wash the pan out for the night.
On his way in he looked inot the living room and saw a girl all dressed in white. Thinking it was his sister, he changed direction and went out the back door to come in the front and scare her. The boy jumped at her thru the front door and she disappeard. The oldest sister, Helen came down stairs asking her brother if he was trying to scare somebody... he said he thought SHE was trying to scare him. She laughed and said she was upstair getting her night clothes on. The next day he confided to his Mama and Mama said 'there are things about Booger Hole that we see and will never understand...."

In the following years that boy would get up to go see who was coming up the road. He'd hear all kinds of clamoring, like horses, and singing. But there'd never be anyone coming up the road....

Sorry ladies! I was off visiting with my sweetheart (DH) in Cheyenne but I'm back with a pot of homemade butternut squash soup enough for the whole porch! Dawn your story is perfect for an October gathering, more please!

Elizabeth, I was in your neck of the woods this weekend. Even drove thru your lovely town as we were touring the countryside. With any luck I may be a nearby neighbor by next month.

Mmmm...all of these goodies are divine. So glad they are zero calories! I'll have to drag out my knitting too. I'm such a slowpoke though, don't make fun of me. I've been working on a shawl for myself for 3 years now! Maybe I'll be able to get it done while visiting with you ladies.

alee, you caught me at the wrong time... just ate and am stuffed! but i bet your spaghetti makes great leftovers!

well, audrey! i wish i knew you were coming through! does your hubby work in town? and you come to see him all the way from littleton? funny, my in-laws used to live in englewood not far from littleton. now they live in elizabeth. well, let me know if you end up here again! especially if you do become a neighbor! i havn't met any farmgirls from the board who live in or near cheyenne, so that would be awesome! then we could really sit on the porch and it wouldn't have to be virtual!

anyway, apple cider sounded so good last night i had to go make some... not the good stuff you buy that has the pulp, but it did the trick! DH set up our new tent in the living room to test it out for our hunting trip tomorrow. so we pretended to be camping and drinking apple cider... hope the tent is as warm tomorrow night, especially if it's snowing in the mountains where we camp!

Dawn I am so loving your story! Girl, I hope you've written some of these down. I'll take a plate of that spaghetti, Alee! I also have four loaves of home baked french bread just coming out of the oven to go with it. Ladies,it just doesn't get any better than having all of y'all out on the porch. Dawn, looking forward to more! Yes, Nora. You can also have one of the barn kittens to take home with you. A chicken? Well, ask your mama about that, first!

Looks like the Snow is going away and we have fog instead! OOOO! Perfect weather for snuggling up in a blanket on the porch!
