Well, I'm almost done with my 4-week swimming lessons and I'm swimming!! I doggy-paddled before I began and today I beat my husband in the front crawl for one lap! Wow! I'm so glad I took lessons! Our YMCA is kind of near the kids school, so I go after I drop them off and swim laps (sounds grandiose, doesn't it? I can only do 6--with much panting!) The lifeguard has finally figured out he doesn't need to come over when I'm sputtering and spitting out water :) just learning!
Anyhow, it's been a great learning time. There are 5 other people in my class and they're all in their 70's and 80's. I'm 39, so I seem like the olympic swimmer in the bunch (great boost to my morale!)
If you don't know how to swim, try lessons! I'm very happy I did (even though I felt silly and still kind of do!) |
