I LOVE hard cider (we called in scrumpy when I lived in England). I miss the good stuff because the stuff we can get around here isn't that great. I've never tried to make it myself but have threated to (LOL). You'll have to let me know if you get it to work and how you made it!

Well, here is how I ended up with a great batch of hard cider. First you make a trip from Arkansas to Michigan, stay in Michigan camping for a month. On your return trip home, you stop at Meckley's Flavor Fresh Farms and purchase three half gallon jugs of un-pastureized delicious, fresh cider. Of course, you have to be unaware it is not pasteurized. You leave it on the floor of the pick up truck ( a very hot spot indeed) and three days later, when you arrive home in Arkansas-voila-hard cider---Good luck.

keep searchin'-it's out there somewhere.

ROFL N@n! I'm thinking it would be REALLY expensive cider by the time I drove from Montana to Arkansas to Michigan, back to Arkansas, and home to Montana!

We put a few raisins in and let it age a few days or so, such a lovely drink.

I just made my first batch this year of hard cider. I got the recipe from Mother Earth News. It is very easy. Just make sure you get cider with NO Perservatives AT ALL. It will not ferment and you waste 5 gallons of cider. Sometimes they sneak it in and not lable it. Ask to make sure. I found this out the hard way and had to make another batch. It takes about 3 weeks before you can drink it and like wine it should age even longer. It is way easier and cheaper than making wine.
