I've been knitting caps for this winter. I have a small, medium and large. Been trying to get all different colors.

I've found the perfect yarn, it's the Deborah Norville yarn. Just looks great and feels perfect in your hands and on your head.

I make them with the band around the edge so they don't curl up.

My problem, I don't know how to price them. Do I use by the hour? How much yarn?? I use the Jo-Ann and Micheals coupons to get a break on the different yarns.

The local antique shop, where I buy lots of my furniture, has little booths for $10 a month, 6 mos. min., and I'm going to try the knit caps plus the cinnamon Xmas ornaments and my soaps. I don't think the soaps will do well as there is someone there who sells a bundle of soaps and has all sorts of flavors. I'm just doing it for fun, right now...

Any advice anyone can think of??

Have you thought of online auctions? They can really surprise you. On pricing/opening bid-do you remember how much you paid for the yarn? Also depends on the details of the hat-was it a complicated or easy pattern, worsted or fancy yarn, and never forget those who don't know how to knit or crochet will really respect your skill & be willing to pay more for the item. Do use cosmetology heads to model the hats on (I got mine off eBay-I have a guy & two gals, one blonde & one brunette) You can also use a styrofoam wig head,be sure it's neither male or female looking (guys are wierd-if they see a hat on a female head, they'll think it's a girly hat even if it's unisex) Basically,I try to get my investment in the yarn back. Also promote handcrafted in the USA. I tell you, I was shocked when I started selling scarves at work for $25 with no problem. I'm now considered a professional knitter at the workplace. *giggles* Let me know if you have more questions.....
