I'm gonna try this again. I've still got old Longaberger that tells me it wants to be in a home that appreciates it. I'm over it. And am looking for a few handmade items.
If you knit: I want a bowl cozy. Something like a hat but you can slip a hot bowl of soup in it and not burn your hands. I can send you the dimentions of my favorite bowl. Also looking for a pair of mittens, and bloomers.
Here are SOME of the baskets I have up for grabs:
*Woven traditions Large Berry (no handle, strips of weave colored in navy, burgundy and hunter grean)
*Bread baket with navy weave, and leather loop handles
*Small Berry with swing handle *I have a LOT of the American baskets. Email me for details.
UPDATE: Just found a *hostess Lavender bkst (smallish with teeny tiny leather loop handles)
*Button Basket
*Button basket with Navy Weave

Hi Dawn -
I do a lot of knitting, but never saw a pattern for a bowl cozy. Would a stretchy ribbed hat pattern work? I knit a lot of those with my scrap yarn. If so, I'd be happy to knit one for you. I don't know how you would make it flat on the bottom instead of rounded for the top of your head, though. Maybe it would flatten out on its own with the weigh of the bowl.

I think that'd be amazing. Is there something in particular you are interested in? I don't think I've ever seen a pattern for a bowl cozy...it's something I've dreamed up in my head after one too mnay burn fingers! LOL! I just thought maybe someone creative out there could fashion one! ooohhh, I'm so excited!

Hi Dawn -
Why don't you send me the dimensions of your bowl and let me see what I can figure out. I'll take a bowl of my own similar in size and see what happens with one of the hats when I put it on it. Maybe the hat pattern will work or I can adjust it somehow.
Or - I just had another thought. You're the one doing the mitten tree, right? I just mailed you some of these hats. Why don't you try one of them on your bowl when you get them and let me know if it will work if I just make it in a different size?

OK - let me know if it works for you. If so, I'll send you another hat or tell me what color you want and I'll make you one.

Groan! I just posted a whole list of baskets and they are off in cyber world.... Here we go again. the 1st number is the aprox imate date made, the second number in () is the approx. worth. I am not concerned with $ amounts, it's just there so you have that information. I am looking for handmade soaps, buttons, bloomers, mittens, etc. I just love the creativity that ya'll have and I'm super easy to please, and really like surprises!

As sad as I am to be giving away my Longaberger, I have to say it's a great feeling to know I'm ridding myself of excess work and clutter. I hope that you will love these baskets as much as I have. Please know that they have been used for work. Most of them just weren't put on a shelf for display. I am trying to only keep things in my life that have both beauty and purpose. They need cleaned. A quick spritz with the garden hose will do wonders. As for those with plastic protectors. Hand wash them only.
Enjoy!

Dawn, Ready when you are!! Thanks again for your ideas from your blog- I have been working hard and organizing my craft supplies and getting rid of many, many items. A lot of the craft supplies that I don't need/want anymore have been going to Sunday School for the kids to use! It's been a win-win!! Have a great weekend! Lori |
