Iam sitting at my pc after cleaning up under the bird cage for about the millionth time, and thought someone out there has to have a pattern for a bird cage skirt. Not the cover but the skirt. Remember seeing one at my grandma's house eons ago. So anyone out there can help me out and point me in the direction of a pattern. If I dont have to sweep it up everyday that would save me more time for all the other stuff I would rather be doing....quilting, canning, reading , and so on :)
Thank you all![](icons/icon_smile_big.gif)

Can't you use a pattern from a tree skirt and revamp it? I mean re size it??

I made mine with out pattern, pretty simple. Measure the diameter and add 2 to 3 ins, one of the inches is for seam allowence, measure the height you want and add 4 ins, for seam allowence and for elastic pockets for top and bottom, make your 1/4 in elastic 1 1/2 to 2 inches less than diamenter, feed thru top and bottom and stitch close openings.

LOL - read the title of the thread and thought to myself, I'm not sure if I would like a bird-cage shaped skirt, not so flattering on my figure....Then I figured it out:D Amy Grace

LOL Amy Grace.......probably wouldn't look too good on my either. I have a couple of messy bird cages too. They will soon be in here for the winter and I am going to make something to help with the mess.

O.K. I am a bit behind in reading and I thought the same thing. I was thinking of great pintucks around the whole skirt with filagre (Not sure if I spelled that right) work for an antique cage look. Then have a pocket with a wonderful exotic bird as the pocket. On the edge a great scallop with echo sewing work to look like the cage I have - boy I was with you on this one. Then when it sunk in - it was like letting the air out of a ballon.
Sorry - I do not keep birds - at least not willingly - I do have wild ones fly into the house all the time but I do not wish them to stay. Good luck and thanks for stirring the thoughts - I might have to go to the drawing board and make this pattern - I really liked it in my head.....

LOL! I was thinking a light colored background with bias tape for the 'bars'... Basic a-line, stiff-ish fabric, thank you for the smiles!
My birds are all in the back yard. 15 houses, 7 birdbaths, 5 feeders...what lovely sights and sounds they provide.
