had a really fun long weekend this past weekend .. and sent a 'report' and pictures to all the girls on my kentucky ramblings list. too many pictures to post (ya' gotta' get on my list to see those .. just e-mail me) ... but thought it would be fun to share all my comin's and goin's with you here too!

good morning ya-ya's! just returned from a reeeeeeeeeely fun three-day trip throughout Kentucky, Indiana and Illinois with friend Sugarbucket Kathy! We hit about a ka-billion antiques shoppes in these three states! Kathy actually took a U-HAUL van .. trailin' behind a truck! And we filled every square inch .. although kathy SWORE she could have gotten a couple more pieces of furniture in there! that little lady knows how to PACK!! (and of course, everytime it came to the BIG stuff .. i had to go 'pee' .. and would get back 'just in time' for it all the lifting and loading to be over!)

i know .. i know!!! ... i'm totally useless!!!!

kathy got WONDERFUL olde painted furniture and tons of 'smalls' .. for a couple up-coming shows she has this spring! One is in Bardstown, KY .. the other is in Ohio .. i'll get more info on dates and exact locations and let you know soon.
Kathy does not YET have a web-site .. but she's planning one real soon .. meantime .. if you need ANYTHING primitive .. just e-mail her and if she doesn't already have it .. she can probably find it for you!

Sugar Bucket Antiques

i got a buncha' treasures and don't think .. not even ONE of them will actually make it to the shoppe! ...

got a HUGE Enamel bucket .. turned that into an 'easter basket' .. got a great olde easter rabbit for only FIVE BUCKS! (he's sittin' in the bucket!):

those great little painted prim easter eggs are from Rusty Pins and Olde Lace (see Paula's web-site address below!)

got some old tin ware (which i have a passion for these days)
cake pans, pie tins, funnels, etc. etc. etc.!

got a cute little glass 'spooner' ...
i LOVE "spooners"! i keep all our knives, forks, and spoons in glass spooners, and crocks and baskets and boxes.

with easter approaching .. i just couldn't resist this rabbit cookie cutter .. it's not real olde .. but i just loved it!)

.. also got a 'butter or cream' paddle .. a couple books (ALWAYS books!) .. !) and i know i'm forgetting some other treasures .. once they get 'put in their special little spots here in the cabins .. sometimes they seem to just disappear!

i LOVE LOVE LOVE this pie tin .. i've never ever seen one like it before! (onlyh five dollars!!!)

had to show you this adorable 'cloth pineapple' made by friend, Paula Oakes .. i got four of them .. two hang in the windows and two i use as 'curtain tie-backs'! (paula's website is: http://www.rustypinsandoldlace.com/ (Rusty Pins and Olde Lace)
go check out her great stuff!

also got a black baking pan .. very olde ... it is soooooooooooooo coooooooool!!! didn't have one like this/ it's all 'waffly' ... i made 'biscuits' on it last night .. flattened out the dough and smashed it down in the little crevices .. i think they 'rose' a little too much to see the 'line definitions' .. shooooooot! i'll probably find out this was used for ironing shirt ruffles .. rather than for baking .. or WORSE YET .. is made of 'lead' and is just part of a 'greasy' olde poisonous machine thingie! gonna' RESEARCH it ..
.. any of ya'll ever seen anything like it before?
(looks like i left alittle of that 'biscuit dough' in the cracks!)

and yet ANOTHER cast iron pan .. a 'frying pan' with a little 'well' all around it to catch the grease!

got three 'grey speckled' enamel PIE PANS .. (gonna' use them for meals every now and then) .. we ate off of them last night .. and all of a sudden .. i think i was chewing on a chunk of ENAMEL! (the third one had our 'waffly dinner bread' in it .. hank was 'POLISHING OFF the remains of it last night at bedtime .. IN THE BED!!! ... and i swear .. i can't find that pan anywhere (i better check under the BED!) did'ja' ever sleep in CRUMBS!

cuuuuuuuuuute little dolly clown outfit
even cuter in person!!! this will end up on
one of my little black dollies that i'm making
now!

SPOONS linen roll .. the embroidery didn't show up .. but SPOONS is embroidered on this little 'spoon roll' .. i also found some fun silver-plate spoons and butter/jam spreader ... got a few BIG spoons too! (jus' wait t'il ya'll see what i'm going to do with the BIG'GUNS!)

didn't get this spoon holder this trip .. but just had to show it to ya! the tray is filled with children's antique silverware! (another passion!)

and i got some snippets of olde fabric
which will end up on dollies, i'm sure!
and look at this great little basket .. i think
you put produce in it and hung it on a scale!

also got: a 'chicken' weighing scale and a 'veggie' weighing scale and yet ANOTHER scale(which i will hang the above basket from .. also got two metal chicken feeders! (what's with me and CHICKENS!! .. musta' been one in another lifetime!)

OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODNESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!! just wait t'il you see the photos i took at what has to be one of the cutest towns in the country: NEW HARMONY, INDIANA! Kathy is such a good friend .. that i swear .. she can either start or finish my sentences .. even before they come out of my mouth! I was getting ready to say:

"If i'd seen this town before discovering Cabin Creek Farm .. we would probably be living in Indiana" ... a 'nano-second' before i said it .. Kathy said: "I be it you'd seen .. this town .... etc. etc. etc.!!!"

No matter where you live in the country .. you MUST treat yourself to a visit to New Harmony! When you see the photos .. you will understand why!

Well, chilluns, that's about all the computer time i can allow me this morning .. have tons of things to do .. and i best be gittin' to 'em! Will write again soon! And remember, always, always, i love to hear what adventures YOU have been having!

xoxo, frannie

Wow, Frannie - what a great adventure! It sounds like you know how to have a good time wherever you go! Kentucky and Indiana sure sound lovely - I've never been to either one, but I'm starting to think I need to plan a trip!

XOXO, Libbie

gurlz ... put away a little of that 'grocery money' each week .. when a gift-holiday rolls around .. tell your family you would like a 'donation' to your 'travel fund' (what i love to call my 'run-away' trips). they are soooooooooooo good for a woman's soul!!! and never, ever keep putting off your dreams to visit other places if that is indeed one of your dreams!

come visit me!!!!

Oh what a dream trip. I love to antique and junk. Finding hidden treasures. You story reminded me of the "Worlds Longest Yard Sale." I heard about it once years ago, but living in California, it was bit far to go. When we moved to Illinois, I told my husband someday I was going to go. It is the perfect trip for us. We have family near Atlanta Georgia, we can make that our final destination. Has anybody here ever gone?

If your not sure what the "Worlds Longest Yard Sale" is, here is a link. www.127sale.com

Thanks for sharing such a wonderful adventure Frannie~MY DH has family in Benton IL and we do a spring trip "down south" to see them and my special herb lady at Gillian's Cottage near Elizabethtown..I did a search and New Harmony is only an hour away from Benton so we are going to include that in our trip~~
Sounds cute~~ and I am so excited to find something else to see this trip~~

Frannie,

I'm gonna take your advice and put away some of my grocery money and all of my exercise class money for my fun trips. What a great idea. I would lovvvve to go to the 127 yard sale some day. Watched a show about it on HGTV (I think) last year.
