i always get a tinge of sadness around this time of year when my plants start ending their producing season. so i thought it might be a cute idea to have a little memorial send off and thank you as each of our plants are laid to rest for the winter or are pulled up.... not a funeral per se, since our gardens are a place of life each year, but a farewell thank you for all the hard work they have done to feed us and fill us with enjoyment!

today, i'd like to say a big thank you to all my sweet and humble little green bean plants! i see your leaves are yellowing, your produce is remaining small and few... but you have offered me many months of delicious produce that i will enjoy all through the winter!

(we could also say some hello's to new plants producing....)

hello to my beautiful pumpkins and squash! you are my favorite garden plant and are turning beautiful shades of orange and deep green.... i look forward to harvesting your sweet pulp because i know when i do, it will be my favorite season - autumn!

also hello to my struggling little green pepper plants... i'm not sure if you will make it this year, but i appreciate your persistence for trying to make it through this cool summer.... next year we will start your seeds earlier and hope to have your presence with us again.

(did that sound totally cheesy? does anyone else talk to their garden? )

Not cheesy at all! LOL! Today I am saying goodbye to my volunteer cucumber vine (in my FRONT yard!) - you have given me a steady supply of cucumber salad since June and I appreciate all your hard work!
