(I wished I'd gotten a picture!)

Hubby just went out to check a mousetrap (we are inundated with the boogers right now for some reason), found one in the trap....AND....found a frog sitting on top of the mouse!

Just try to do me one better, I double dog dare ya!!

Winona...you're in Oregon adn I'm in Ohio...we're inundated with mice now too and there are tons of seeds, berries and nuts for them to eat outside....Animals have to have a way to predict what kinda winter they will have so they can prepare. Maybe we'll have a crummy winter too since they are coming inside so early......

Early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese....

Wow, that's really odd. Why would a frog be on top of anything that is dead? I agree with you Debbie. We're getting all kinds of signs of an early and very cold winter this year, here too. Signs are also saying not much snow, though, which is not good from a water and fire season standpoint. Nature will let you know if you just pay attention. lol

Eeeewww is right. Nothing nastier than a dead mouse. Not to be gory, but perhaps the frog was catching the dissipating body heat from the mouse's body to keep warm? Or perhaps the dead mouse was drawing flies that the frog was catching? Ugh, I'm not making things any better.

Ok. having a mouse in the house is one thing that drives me nearly off my rocker. But finding a dead one is probably right up there with finding a lizard in the laundry room (happenedto my mom....guess who had to remove the lizard?!) -- But ya got me on the frog sitting on the dead mouse. Never, Evah have I heard of that!! Whoa!!

My two cats say "I love those mousies" and the mice don't far into the house. But the frog on top of dead mouse, that cracks me up. Does your husband have any trouble picking up the mousetrap? lol

StarMeadow...that one cracked me up!

Laurianne, Lizards don't bother me, usually it was me that was taking them inside in the first place!

I don't know why the frog was sitting on the dead mouse caught in a mousetrap but maybe jumped and wasn't really paying particular attention to where he landed and then hubby happened to show up and then the rest of the story.

I'm thinking it might be a doozy of a winter too but my horse hasn't really furred out, nor have the dogs. The fish could go either way!! :-) I'm in the 6 of one, half dozen of the other camp right now. Last nite, had a fire going in the wood stove but yet it's supposed to get back to the 80's pretty quick. I dunno.

Truth is stranger than fiction!

Winona ;-)

Oh, as for mice catchers (cats), we don't have one but we do have 2 mini-doxies and actually, they are moused out now. They will sit and watch one skitter by and then shrug as if to say, "Oh! There goes one!" and that's pretty much it. They caught oodles of micey's but now, the thrill of the hunt is gone...or something. :-)
