I'm trying to increase my knitting skills by working on a lace style scarf complete with a stitch chart. There is one stitch here that I am really having trouble with and hopefully someone can help me! On the chart it looks like a capital V with a 5 inside of it. In the chart key next to this symbol it says: ktbl, yo, k, yo, ktbl in same stitch. I understand that ktbl means knit in back of loop, and I do know how to do that (thank you youtube!), but what I'm stuck on is getting all that into one stitch! How much of the ktbl do I do before I yarn over, how much of the knit stitch do I do before I yarn over again, etc. Is there someone out there who would have the patience to type out some detailed instructions for me on this stitch??

I believe you would knit in the back, pull it to the front but not off the needle, then yarn over, knit one (again don't drop off the needle) yarn over and then knit in the back loop and drop off the needle (should be only one stitch to drop).

Hope this makes sense!

I think Beekeepersgirl is right. I'm a knitter, not a great one, but I'm pretty sure that doing each of those things progressively into the last stitch that you put on the needle will give you the desired effect. When I'm having trouble with something like that, the best way for me to figure it out is to take some scrap yarn and knit a few rows to get a base going and then try it out a million times. I'm sure you have a picture of the completed project that you can compare your sample to, just to keep track. When you get it right, write directions that YOU can understand next to the confusing ones or on another piece of paper that you staple to the back of the instructions for next time! Hope you get it!

Thanks ladys! I'm still feeling confused I've been trying it over and over with practice yarn, I end up with 5 stitches does that sound right? Does anyone know what the V with a 5 in it means? Is it an increasing stitch??
