Missed you all and decided it was time to drop in and say "howdy". Life got the best of me during the last year...we lost our minds and remodeled our house...enough said? Things are almost back to normal, well as normal as life ever can be and I hope to be out in the garden, riding the mules and donkey more than I have been able to do and back with the Farmgirls on this forum a bit more this year. I'll never catch up with all of the goings on since it looks like it has become really lively here - it is good to see some of the familiar names as well as many new ones.

Hi Roberta!

I'm new since you joined last year. I sure look forward to gettin' to know ya'.

UGH! House remodeling....there needs to be an official mediator between the owner and the contractor to keep the owner from killing the contractor. OR if you're doing it yourself, ya' need to go to anger management classes! Silliness aside, I hope everything turned out just like you dreamed it would. We'd love to see pics!

Blessings
Catherine

Hi, Roberta,

I'm new here also. I'm just trying to get my bearings...I get nervous with this "techi" stuff.

What all did you remodel on your home? I love that kind of stuff. Our home has been in an almost constant state of remodeling ever since we moved in 11 years ago...just in time to move...we always move as soon as we finish getting everything just like we want it!

We will be moving to MO. in the next few months...my husband is being transferred to the KC area.

Well, I've got to go for now...talk with ya soon!

Welcome back Roberta! Boy do I understand about remodeling. We bought our house a year ago and the projects are on going. We plan to take a break from the house this year and work on the year. See ya around the forum! Julia V.

Hi,

Thanks for the welcome back. We remodeled what is basically half of our house, it was remodel or move because we had what we call a "one butt kitchen". Once my husband retired it became tense in there while I was cooking if he, both dogs, and the cat decided to join me there! It was rather like trying to cook in a VW bus with lots of company. So we boarded off the house at the livingroom and gutted the other section to the bare walls. It consisted of kitchen, dining area, a bathroom and laundry/pantry area. We still have a very small house by California standards (and because we didn't change the footprint) but by bumping out into the sun porch we gained about 8 x 20 feet to increase the kitchen and bath size. The contractor was a royal pain, his employees a couple of rude, crude, surly young men, the cost over runs were a shock and the time they said it would take was more than double the estimate. There were some really terrific subs working here though - the cabinet guy was just great and I am so appreciative of his wonderful work on the cabinets, counter tops and sinks in the kitchen and bath. We now say we would move before we would remodel again - BUT we did it and now it is over and we are ready to get back to life

I am looking forward to spending time here and exploring the forum a bit to see what's going on. It is nice to see all of you new farmgirls - this is one of the best places on the web!

Warm regards,
Roberta
