I'd really like to visit the Farm Fair this year. It's a weekend I have my daughter so would have to bring her along.
Is there anyone else who is planning to go who will be taking a young daughter with them? My daughter is ten and (usually) likes pretty much everything (she told my mom once that she "always has a good time") and can be fairly outgoing. I'm just thinking that the prospect of some other kids (no offense to boys, she's just at the "girls only" age, it seems) would make it all more appealing to her.
For any of you who are going and will have kids: Will you be camping overnight?

My dd may go along; she's 17 but is really good with her younger cousins. We may camp -- we're trying to find/buy a teardrop camper before then.

Hi there Karin! Farm fair is SOOOO kid friendly!! Last year they had a hop-scotch tournament, dancing, and lots of yummy kid-friendly food..Not to mention that the farm itself was open for touring the gardens, visiting the hen house and strawberry picking! My kids were and still are a little young to really get way into it but my son (4 years) still talks about going back to visit MaryJane's farm. "Mama let's go see MaryJaneButters!!!" he says her name as if its all one word.. So cute. There were many kids there and several vendors with elementary age children as well. Having your daughter along I suspect will be a real treat for both of you!!

wish I was taking myself to Farm Fair! I want to go so bad. Im always so envious of you girls out on the west coast. I have time to try & work out s/thing.

I'm SURE kids are welcome - what would a farm be without a few (or a few hundred!) running around every once in a while!

Oh, please do bring your daughter, Karin! We will have all sorts of fun games set up that would be great for a mother/daughter team or perfect for just your daughter! And, if she's anything like me, she'll love the strawberry shortcake with gobs of real whipped cream! The celebration is for the whole family, and we would love it if you were able to attend with your daughter!

I would love to take oldest daughter, who is 11...but husband will need her help with the animals while I am gone. I may still try to work it out though. It would be fun for us to have a "getaway" together before she gets old enough she dosn't want to hang out with me.

| I went to the farm show last year with the whole family. Grandma and Grandpa (73 and 81 years old), Nana (60), my husband (38), my daughter, son and daughter (7, 4 and 9 mos). We all had a great time. We brought a picnic lunch, toured the farm, shopped at the booths. I would strongly recommend bringing the whole family and making a day of it. |

I just can't think of a better family fun day. Wow - what a treasure, Christine, to have that much family to bring! I just love intergenerational things...it brings such richness to everyone's lives.

My whole family went last year, all 6 of us, and the youngest was 2 1/2 and she did great! It was FUN, in fact, my 13 yr. old boy and I won the Hog Hollering Contest!! He about broke the sound system, he was so loud!! Bring some blankets and something to make shade, as it will probably be really hot...you can rest out in the field by the big tent for awhile, but still hear the music, people watch, etc. while you take a rest. Terri - is hog hollering where you yell "ssssooouuuuuueeeeeeeeeeeeee.......!!!!" I was just wondering, because if so, we do that at our county fair down here and I LOVE listening to it - that is SO cool that you won - where'd you learn how?!

They do that at our county fair too, and they also have a husband calling contest that is hysterical!! We did that at our little Rathdrum Days Fair a few years ago and it was really funny. We actually had a husband & wife calling contest.

Libbie - Yes, hog hollering is what you're thinking of. I come from a LONG line of farmers, so I guess it's just in my blood. :) I won a red "I Dig Farmgirls" baseball cap from MaryJanesFarm.
