Ok, I am on a corn kick. I picked all our corn yesterday and have been putting it up in the freezer. Ruined about 4 dozen ears last night. That stuff sours way too fast.
Tonight we had corn on the cob and I was noticing how everyone was eating theirs and wondered if it means anything.
I eat mine 3 rows at a time one bite at a time turning the cob under and going all the way around. Starting from the right going to the left.
My hubby eats the ends first then starts like a typewriter from left to right.
Abby, our DD, eats hers left to right a few rows at a time.
Kansas starts in the middle and only ate one whole side.
So I got to wondering how all you farmgirls eat your corn on the cob. And if how we eat it actually means anything in particular about us. I have never heard anyone talk about this particular subject.

you need to get with a goverment agency and get them to drop tons of money to study this, I eat my corn 2-3 rows at a time, very orderly. I am going to start noticing how every one else does it. Must mean something.

I've never paid much attention to how people eat their corn on the cob, but you can tell a lot about their teeth by the way the cob looks when they're done. Guess I should've been a dentist Cindy

My 3 year old bits it randomly. I bite into a few rows on the left side first then eat it one row at a time left to right. Its very satisfying.....I have OCD. |

Sounds like some very precise people here. I think it's so much harder for those with false teeth or even a few in the front to get it all off the cob. My SIL can't eat it off the cob. Cuts it right off. Kansas really doesn't get the whole kernal either. So I don't know, Alee. You are probably more careful when you have to use your front teeth. Like when you eat apples. You may be afraid you're going to loose that tooth.
I really hate the sound it makes when I actually pay attention to other people eating corn. It ain't perty!

I eat mine 3 rows at a time, starting left to right, big end to little end.
I wonder if that means something.
This should be interesting!

I'm an Abby!! I was just showing my 5 year old how I eat it the other night because his corn eating skills needed some work. He had sporadic chunks missing all over the ear and claimed he was done and ready for another one.

What a great observation, Kris! Hmmmmm....I bet it does say something about a person. I'm the typewriter type when I'm at home. I've even been made fun of for it, but I don't know which end I start from. Probably right, since I'm right-handed. But when we're out or at someone's house, I cut it off the cob. And that's because of all the ribbin' the hubs and my DD give me!

Wow
This IS funny!
I eat corn left to right. The rows eaten depends on the ear size, and how hot it is. Sometimes it's just so good I take really huge bites and end up burning the roof of my mouth.
This usually happens with the very frist picking of the season |

funny INDEED, LOL. I never eat it here from the cob. The cobs are not that nice I think ;( But when we visited Canada we often did have them and I just ate it from left to right. NO idea how many rows, lol Just ate and enjoyed

I eat mine rapidly, in big, random, squishy bites. Then I go back and nibble away the bits I missed on the first pass. I try to get every last bit of kernel off the cob. I love corn on the cob so much! |

Wow, my description sounds like it must be horrible for the people eating with me to watch! I think I'm discreet about though. Never gotten any funny looks. |

Dutchy, no good corn in the Netherlands? How sad is that. I wonder why. We have such good corn here. I even eat it raw right in the garden. My grand, Kansas likes it best like that. What kind of corn do you have over there?
Amie, really, corn is a messy thing to eat. And I try not to watch other people eat it. But I just got to thinking about it the other night all the ways that corn on the cob is eaten. So many different ways as I have seen here. But it just can't be helped because it is so darn good and I don't think anyone pays much attenetion to the next guy because their faces are in the cob! So keep eating those big squishy bites of corn, girl!
You, too, Anna. Ya'll would make great corn on the cob eating partners!
