 Hubby and I were at the farm yesterday.
I turned on the hot water in the kitchen
It smelled like rotten eggs !Yuck
I thought oh no Suffer Water !!
One of my brother's and his wife came down to look at the house.
they both said
"yes , that is Suffer Water" they have it.
We have a thingy on the new fridge/ freezer for the ice maker and for the thing were the cold water on the fridge comes out.
We have a filter to on our main water thingy,Question;
Anyone know what one can do to get rid of the smell?
Yuck.
I know it won't hurt you; but the smell is enough to make one sick
Strangely enough the cold water doesn't smell that bad.

said that the ice and the water on the fridge where they have a purifer thingy too( I can't take of the name right now )LOL
in case yall didn't notice Ha.
she said she couldn't noticed it there.
They cook and take showers etc , wash clothes with it. too.
I can imagine what son will say.
Course he always has something negtative to say about everything,
you know the type.

Yes, it will make your nose suffer, but I too beleive you are talking about "sulfer". I assume you are on a well, and even if you are not, you will have to get an outside water purifier that attaches before the water goes any where, in other words directly to the well or where the water comes in from the street. The original cost is the most, and then depending on the type, and how often you have to change the filter, is your monthly cost. You are no where near any of the old mines are you?, if so, get your water tested. Good luck

Can't spell worth a lick anymore.
We will be living on a side of a mountain in the country.
So,
NO change of fixing it the way you suggest Hosanna.
but appericate the advice.
No, I don think we are near any mines BM wolf
but, I had heard about that before.
Hubby said he talked to the well guy and he gave him some tips
to try first.
Also, the guy said something about a water softer might help
So,
We will try those.
If yall think of any thing else let me know

Shelia, we have sulfur water in our rental house(which was my Mom and Dads place) The only thing that helps is to get a water system that is set up to take out the sulfur. It works very well. It runs around $1200 to $1800 around here. But no water softner system or on the tap filter system will get rid of sulfur it has to be treated with a special water system to remove the sulfur.With ours the well water goes right into the system directly and it is filtered out before it reaches the pipes.It is well worth the cost. Sulfur can blacken your toilet and it usually contains iron also when you have sulfer and that causes an orange discoloration. We have been dealing with this for 36 years.The system works.

We used to have a very strong "SULPHUR" smell in our hot water at a second home. It was only in the hot water. Turning up the heat on the hot water tank and flushing it completely when first using it took care of it. Good luck.

I used to live in Suphur, OK and there is a fountain with sulphur water in it which smells up the entire town all summer long. The city water is okay, but it's full of lime. I don't know what to tell you. I do know that quite a few people with skin conditions like psoriasis take bottles of it home and use it on their affected skin and says it works great. I also know several people who have drank it and says it "cures what ails" you. It's supposed to be safe, you just need to get past the smell.

Hubby talked to the well guy,
the well guy
is going to send some samples to the lab to make sure nothing else is going on;
then he is going to " shock it" with something or other that is suppose to help
then put C. tablets in it too.
So , hope fully that will help.
