For those of you who dont have your own website and are asking for links to the their blogs, personal web pages via their isp etc...

Those of you who dont have your own site or Esty accounts are you able to post links to others sites? Do you have a page for links? Is this just an account to post your products and thats it?

The reason why I am asking these questions is that I dont think that the people who dont have their own web sites have any type of pages to them other than pages to list products they are selling. So, there wouldnt really be a way for someone who doesnt have their own website to place a reciprocal link for someone who has posted their blog or other link on their site. Am I correct here? If not please correct me.

Is.

P.S. I will wait for a response to the above questions before I post the 2nd half to this post then it will all make sense to everyone else why I am asking all of this. So, sorry in advance if anyone gets confused.

Hello SandyB,

You may want to place descriptions next to each of your links so if someone wants to add it to their site they can just quickly copy and paste the info.

Just a reminder:

To make it easier for everyone just post your link along with a short description and thats it. whoever posts to this topic is automatically allowing anyone to link to their site.

Dont forget to check back often or subscribe to the topic so that you can update your sites regularly when new people add their links.

Hope this makes it easier on everyone who would like to gain some more exposure to their site.

Please follow the following format:

Jams -N- Bread - www.jams-n-bread.com - Homemade jams and butters made from 100% organic fruit and ingredients. We offer low carb, low sugar, sugar free, and regular sugar jams.

C & A Computer Services - www.cacrs.com - Servicing all your computer repair and misc computer needs.

Just a note as well:

I personally dont like to add banners and other graphics to my affiliates page. It takes too long to load for customers who may still be on dialup connections or their cell phones. I will only be placing text links to my site. So for those of you who want me to post their site please make sure you have a text link available as well as your banner.

Thanks much everyone for your help.

P.S. Just so you know im ranking #1 on msn for my JNB site! Its about time. Now to work on getting in the top ten with google.

I understand about not wanting to post banners - If you want to change mine, it's alright ...

CONGRATS!! I'm sure you'll soar to #1 on google in no time!

How do you find out how you're rated on a search engine?? Doesn't it depend on what key words you're looking for?

I can enter "Muller Farm" in both MSN and Goggle and be listed at the top (even though our farm is "Muller's Lane Farm")

to answer the question in regards to the Etsy shops...
on the etsy website, it is simply a place to list your items for sale, alot like ebay...(in a columnar listing format with photos) although you can link to other etsy sellers within the website by marking them as sellers that you like..you cannot post links to outside websites as you would on your own web pages...so to answer the question..those of us that have etsy only shops cannot link to other sites through etsy..only to things/sellers that are within the site itself.

Hi Tina,

Thanks so much for clarifying that for me. That is exactly what I thought the case to be. I was looking at their source codes for their pages and I didnt even see keywords or anything pertaining to even the sellers products or company on the etsy site's encoding. In other words when and if someone types in a keyword on the net that pertains to a product you sell on their site it would more than likely not go straight to any of your products but to the whole category for that product. So like if i were searching for strawberry jam it would show up at the category page of etsy and show "food" instead and then show everyone who is selling it instead of just yours.

So, i would recommend for all who have these accounts and could afford to go with a site of their own it would be extremely beneficial to you and your new companies. Maybe then you will also get to sell more stuff.

Just my 2 cents gals.

Cyndi,
I hope I didnt offend you or anyone else for that matter about the banners. If I did I apologize.

As I had said in a previous post I would like to keep them down to minimum so that it looks cleaner and will also load quicker for my not so high tech customers lacking the broadband lightening speed connections and for those business pros like myself who access them on our pocket pcs. I also have to update that page often and its just easier to post links.

I will leave your banner up as I like how it looks. Very nice design by the way. Thumbs up.

Cyndi,
Back in the day when I was actively running my pc repair business I had some programs that would help to choose the right keywords and phrases etc to place on your web pages. I had my pc repair business at #1 on all the major search engines. I however lost my original site due to an oversite with the hosting company and some search engine/junk company bought it before I could gain it back. So therefore I had to get a new one which is the current one and basically start from scratch.

One thing I have noticed is that the search engines crawl your page and post the first 3 sentances or so of each page. The title of your page is what pops up as well. So your best bet is to always have a title with some keywords in it and also those first few sentances of the page have good keywords. Yesterday I changed my title because I noticed that I had Jams-n-bread as one word and it wasnt popping up with keywords jam or jams so i changed it to Jams -N- Bread in hopes that will bring it up further in google.

It may also be bringing up your company because what you are typing is part of the business name or a word or phrase. You can try searching for your products and see where you are as well. Most people wont know your company name but know what they want to buy.

As far as checking what you rank its definately in what the customer is looking for and how they input that into the search bar. To my knowledge I dont think there is an actual ranking besides where it pops up on the results page. I could be wrong though. Usually I personally will go through about 10 pages of results before I decide on which one to go with. I do this because I know that some really good companies are just not at the top 10 and I shouldnt judge them by being in 200th place. Being in the top ten tends to get the most clicks for those quick finds.

Hope that helps.

Hey Girls
I have an on-line business too. My DH and I work it together. It is soo off the beaten path here that I won't post a link, but
FYI - we found out this year after doing ALOT of marketing to try to drive traffic to our site that reciprocal links (I link to you and you link to me) cancel each other out as far as seach engines are concerned. That means, it may be great for customers to find like minded sites, but adding reciprocal links does not increase the seach engines spiders to list you higher in your search terms! Google et all just changed their 'rules' to this web markeing game!

ask and will try to explain more detailed info re. that! or email directly.
