Am thinking of putting some of my knit belts and things on Etsy and was wondering what those of you who have unilized this website thought? Do you get enough exposure, have you sold a fair amount of product and are there tips to listing that help your stuff sell better. Thanks!

Hi Jenn! Several of us have Etsy shops. It is very easy to use and I like the fact that it is a "buy it now" format instead of auction type like eBay or some of the other places. The cost of listing is very inexpensive. However, I have not sold a lot of items. When you list something it stays up until you delete it. In order to keep your items in front of everyone's eyes you need to list something new on a regular basis. I think it will catch on though. At the present time I can't afford to have a website done so this is the next best thing. And you have to advertise -- put a link in your email signature, on business cards, etc. Hope this helps. And let us know the link when you get set up. We love to buy from other Farmgirls.

Etsy is easy, but I haven't sold anything yet. Disappointing. i don't think my prices are out of line and my quality is good. I haven't had time to advertise, and it's good to have a place people can go to see my things.

Hmmm, I don't get it. I loved your store...esp the aprons. Do you think it pays to try and get a highlighted spot on their front page or something? Any other Etsy thoughts out there?

Patricia, I know I've been wanting the Miss Mona apron (and I know I'll want the studly farmboy snackesee -sp?), but with Christmas just past and vacation coming, I just don't have any extra money. I'm not trying to get sympathy; goodness knows I waste a little $ here and a little $ there. But I thank there are many, like me, who are in the same boat.
I love your products and check your site and other FarmGirl sites regularly. There's some soaps I'm dying to buy, the Miss Mona apron, a doll, and a whole list of things that FarmGirls have to sell that I want. I think it's just a bad time of the year for many people financially right now. I truly believe your items will sell. Hang in there!
(I keep reading this, trying to make it sound more encouraging and less preachy, and this is the best I could do -- sorry. My intent is to reassure and encourage you ladies)

I have been really happy with Etsy. I havn't been doing it too very long...less than two months and have had 15 sales and several special orders (two of them large orders) so it has been perfect for me. Is it enough to count as a part time job...no. But...I would be making things anyway, and this way it is fun to have a place to put them for sale. It is cheap to list and easy to understand..even I can do it!! I think it is very worthwhile.
Patricia...you hang in there..your stuff is great!!!! I am holding out for a Mona tote bag!!!

Jenny, I am making "Miss Mona Moments" notecards with the most hysterical charicture of our beloved bovine and snappy captions. I hope you (and she) like them. I'll send you a sample. I have something else to send to you anyway.

It is a site like ebay for selling things, but they are just for the handmade items. Cheap to list. I have not sold anything either. I just dropped my prices a little and the shipping cost too. I sell on ebay and it has been okay, but it getting so expensive to list something with a gallery photo, it ends up being 70 cents. Then you also pay a percentage of what the item sells for and then you pay paypal if it sells...so unless it is an item that goes for a higher price then the time it takes to list...well, it just not all that much money. My daughter makes good on there though, she sells kids name brand clothes.
I will be listing my treble clefs, which are on the MJF's Marketplace forum on there soon.

Jenn, Patti and Jenny, thank you for the encouraging words. I know what you mean. There are many things I want to buy from my Farmgirl sisters, but can't yet. I will hang in there. And add some less expensive stuff and see what happens. By theway, Farmgirls get a discount. I don't know if I mentioned that before.
