Hi girls,

Here's a picture of the dolls my mom and I made at Christmas for our local church last year. They have a day when parents, who need a little help for the holidays, can go to the church and choose from donated items for their kids for Christmas. Last year the church called my mom as the person who had been making dolls for years had passed away and they were wondering if she could help out. We have six churchs in our little town and it is held at one church but all are included. We ended up making 36 dolls. This year we hope to do more and my sister is making quilts.

I'd love to hear about what others are making and see pictures. I'd also like to challenge anyone who some spare fabric and time to make a few dolls and donate them. Here's the link for the free pattern we used.

Note that we made the arms and legs a little thicker than what is on the actual pattern. Everything we used except for the fiberfil stuffing was stuff we had already. (That's why some had blue hair!)Notice the little cowgirl doll in front. This year we are going to make cowboy dolls as well.

Anyone up for a little challenge for charity? Let's see how creative everyone can get!

Sally

Sally, what a great site! I don't have little ones anymore but I'm a new grandma so I loved the idea of making your own crib sheets. How awesome is that? I can do this for my grandson to save his daddy some money :)

Adorable dollies, too sweet. And what a sweet thing to do to donate them to your church for the not so lucky.

Hugs...
