Hi everyone!! I haven't posted anything about the Gluten Free Farmgirls chapter here so I figure it's past time!

Gluten Free Farmgirls ... please come play, share your insight, tips, tricks and knowledge! There is so much to learn and so much to share that we who have to live gluten free are always seeking good recipes and products!

What's has gluten? Anything with Wheat, Rye, Barley (any anything that's touched wheat, rye or barley) and most of us stay away from Oats due to cross contamination.

Is it serious - YES!! .... join in to find out more and share - I look forward to meeting y'all!

Thanks Rene!! I hope it finds all the people that need it and the people who have lots to share as well!
I have several ideas in the works to get the word out about gluten free and bring celiac awareness to a new level. Every little bit helps! The more we talk the easier it becomes throughout the world around us, people start to understand the disease and it's seriousness a little more each day and then see how it isn't really that hard to work with. Acceptance and Grief are a big part of making gluten free living easier!

I don't have an issue with gluten (thank heaven), but know it is a serious problem. A niece has a gluten free diet, and so I try to be conscious of this when we have family dinners. Also, I work with county extension, and had a call from a consumer wondering if there is a gluten free restaurant in our city. We are so small-there is not. However, it would be a great idea if the owners could list a few items on their menue. And, lastly..here is a funny for you...
Because I am trying to be aware, and so is DH...I was at Farmer's Market. Their was a booth with a big sign..GLUTEN FREE products. Just a few baked goods left..so I was all excited and bought a loaf of bread. On the way home, I realized I had just purchased a loaf of whole wheat bread. duh.Sometimes I wonder about my head.

Tomorrow starts Celiac Awareness month . . .
It's time to educatate those around us that are not familiar with Celiac and gluten free living ...
It's time to teach the restaurants how to safely serve Celiacs and gluten free diets.
It's time to make Celiac Disease as well knows as Diabetes!

... start with your family - understanding is half the battle!
... move onto your friends - teach them what's safe.
... talk to a restaurant - can they safely offer a dish or two?
... talk to your schools/colleges - do they have meals for the kids?

find out more ... google "celiac disease", email me or visit my website ...
