Finally, I get my own room! It is a large bedroom, in the basement with three little basement windows. WHat makes each of your craft/sewing rooms special and cozy? I want this done right but I know where to start.. Everyone here has such great ideas. What about storage? I thought of basic wire shelves in the closet, so I can see my fabric. Thank you for taking the time.....

I am basically doing the same thing in a bedroom that belonged to our middle daughter who is on her own now :( Although I miss her I am making her room into a sewing room / guest room. Hard isn't ?!
I was thinking of using an iron storage unit from Ikea to store my fabric in also. I have a loveseat that folds out into a bed in the room too. Keep posting you may give me some great tips.

You want tkeep fabric visible. but clean. Plan for storage if you have to and keep the windows open for light.

This is not my craft room, it belongs to a friend of mine. I wish mine looked like this!
Maybe you can glean some ideas from the way she utilized her space.

Carol, One thing I really like are the plastic drawers that are semi-transparent! they are easy to see what's in them and some of the taller one's have wheels on them so they can be easily moved! The one thing I have found is that if stuff is not easily accessible or if it's stacked to high then generally it does not get used. Stay away from opaque containers because it gets to be very time consuming getting into containers to see what is in them!

Sue, Could you please just send your friend to my house?!!!! Her room is a dream! I have to admit though that even if I had that room it would not stay as clean!

OH...that craft room is fabulous! Your friend is a very lucky gal, Sue.

I'm hoping to take over a room when our son goes to school. He has a wonderful walk-in closet with wire shelving. I can just see my fabric on those shelves.

This particular lady does her own carpentry work. She made the ribbon storage unit and many of the things you see in that room. And I hate to tell you, it is just as neat and tidy on a daily basis as it is in those pictures. I keep telling her that an uncluttered craft room is the sign of a very sick mind. :)

That is an awesome room, I'm really impressed with the lack of clutter, I figured the clutter would be part of the room. I plan to do the wire shelves in the closet and I have several of the old enamelware refridgerator boxes for stoage, They all have kids and can be stacked on top of each other. Bad thing is you can't see what's in them. I plan to get some of drawers like Monica suggested. Once I get it paintd, my first project ill be my Halloween Swap apron. Thank you guys, those pictures are cool.

Sue, I don't think that I could be creative in a perfectly clean craft room! I agree with you totally!
