My Daughter is growing her first garden from seeds this year. I tried to tell her how to do it via phone. Anyway, she says she has something that looks a fungus...white fuzzy stuff...This stuff is on the yellow squash and now is invading the cantelpoes...So she and I want to know what to do for it...And what it could be?
Thanks
Deborah

Too much moiture and maybe not enough sun also, try wipeing it off, and puting the melons on piles of straw, and the squash too if its touching the ground, only water from underneath, like a soakerhose, and never water at night.

Teresa, It is not on the fruit...it is on the leaves. I told her to spray the leaves with detergent that does not have ant-bactirial (sp)...and water.

It may be powdery mildew, I've used the baking soda spray with success in the past. It's 1 tbsp of baking soda, 1/2 tsp dish detergent to a gallon of water. You can also add 1 tbsp of horitculture oil but it's usually too hot and sunny here for me to do that. Have her follow Teresa's advice of not watering at night, I think night watering caused my past outbreak. I'm a big fan of soaker hoses and mulch now.
