Do housework? Sit at your computer? Garden? Read? Enjoy doing a craft? Work away from home?
Just curious.... seems like I spend alot of time working away from home and doing housework....

Do housework? Maybe 7 hours (an hour a day). Sit at your computer? At work, 30 hours. At home, less than an hour a day. Garden? About 3 hours. Read? About 7 hours. Enjoy doing a craft? Rarely. It goes in spurts. Work away from home? 30 hours a week.

Do housework? Maybe 7 hours (an hour a day). Sit at your computer? At work, about 36 hours. At home, not at all. Garden? 3-4 Read? 2 (magazines...with a little one, that's about all I can manage!) Enjoy doing a craft? About 2 hours. Again, that little one makes it hard to sit still!. Work away from home? 40 hours a week.

In a week?? House work, 1-3 Computer, Probably 21 Garden, This time of year, 7. That does not count harvesting. Read, 7 Crafts, 0-40 depending on what I am working on. When I get into something, I don't stop. Work away from home, none for the last 20 years. The 10 years before I retired, I worked up to 100 hrs a week. Most of those were in my car on the way to appts. That is the reason I don't want to go ANYWHERE. |

Housework- never ends but I do about 7 hours a day computer- about 1/2 hour a day more if I get things done before my DH gets home. Garden- not enough only minutes a day. It's been raining or to hot or to many mosquito's. Read- almost never unless you count this site. Then it's the same as the computer time. Craft- 1/2 hour a day work away from home- 3 to 8 hours depending on who I take care of that day. Why does it seem like on paper I'm not very busy. But daily, I am very busy, It must be because I'm retired and people think I have all the time in the world to take care of things. I will admit I do things a little slower, but I am busy. If I was organized I'm sure it would be easier.
Hope all your days are Sunnydays. dianebcarterhotmailcom.blogspot.com |

Housework: As little as humanely possible...LOL Maybe 3 hrs a wk. Doing the dishes is my big job. Cooking: Hubby loves to cook so not very often. I usually make "garbage" bread or cornbread at least once a wk so maybe an hour. Computer: All night long. I don't sleep at night so visit with friends and post here and on my blog. Use it to find craft ideas and projects, recipes. Do banking and email family and friends. My sleeping pattern is screwed up from too many years of working 2nd shift. Reading: Not much outside of magazines in the summer. I love to curl up with a good book in the winter time. Garden: Usually out daily to see how our small garden is doing and spray soapy water on my plants to keep the bugs away. Crafts: Whenever I want. Because of some health problems hubby encourages me to do craft things which make me happy and give me a sense of fulfillment. Work outside the home: No longer. I had to resign for health reasons after 32 yrs. of geriatric nursing last summer.

I love reading all the responses! I'm amazed how many hours a week we work away from our homes. I would do anything to be able to stay on the farm and never leave it anymore!

Debbie, I think we all would "do anything" to stay on the farm. That is why I worked the hours I did. Keep your eye on the goal and yes, you'll be able to stay at home soon.

Housework - Maybe 2 a week Sit at my Computer - 12 hours @work, maybe 5/week at home Garden - 2 hours/week right now; more in the spring & fall Read - 3 hours/week Craft - 3 hours/week (I knit in the evening before bed)Work away from home - 1 day/week
I pretty much balance all my chores, and have them all down to a science. That gives me more time for other projects on the farm -- like fencing and shop building; mowing the yard; and oh, so much more!

Per week:
Do housework? 2 - 3 Computer: probably 15 or so Garden: 0, I live in an apartment. :( Read: 3 Enjoy doing a craft: in a good week, 15. Work away from home: 40 hours, but add another 10 hours of commute time, so 50 total
My computer and craft times are usually tussling with each other... at night I either play on the computer or do crafty things.

Per week:
Housework: 16-20 (right now we're doing some serious de-cluttering and re-organizing, so my husband and I have both been working on the house all weekend. Normally, it would be 2-3.)
Computer: 40 hours at work, very little at home
Garden: 1-3 (way more in early spring)
Read: 7 (it's how I put myself to sleep at night)
Enjoy doing a craft: 0! (One of my goals for the de-cluttering/re-organizing is to have space and time to start learning some crafts).
Work away from home: 40-45

work away from home 8-9 hours a day (except weekends when I *only* work about 3 hrs a day), plus about 40 minutes commute each day. Fix lunch to take in and dinner - about 1 hour a day. Take care of chickens and bees about 1/2 hr a day. Veggie garden gets about 20 minutes. Cleaning and laundry about an hour. Then sleep takes over. I try to aqueeze in fun reading and biking, actually have been getting my workout when I wake up at 2am (menopause does bizarre things to sleep patterns) then going back to bed to have more nightmares about the weeds overtaking my gardens.... LOL!
