Try Webs at http://www.yarn.com/yarns/fibers.html#domestic (no affiliation) or lots of advertisers in Spin-off or Weave/Spin/Dye or also if there is a local handweaver's guild they might be a good source. Or find a sheep farmer in your area! There are a whole bunch of resources listed here http://ohioline.osu.edu/sc156/sc156_46.html at the bottom of the page or maybe your local county extension agent can help.

Thanks I will give those ideas a try. Also, left a message for my Local Yarn Shop to see if they have any leads.

Hey Jenn, I did a search & came up with a lot of suppliers online. I'm looking for roving too. I used to get it from a local weaving store, who has since moved. One thing you might look for is a "fiber guild" or "fiber festival" in your area. These festivals usually take place in the spring here in the midwest. That's when all that lovely wool gets sheared. :) You will find GREAT bargins on wool & related things at the festivals! Oh, and contact your county extention agent to get in touch with sheep farmers in your area! The 4-H kids will give a raw fleece away rather than deal with cleaning it...mind you, it does come smelly & complete with dingleberrys!

Just got my KnitWords mag (machine-knitting) and there is an article about fiber fairs - includes a link at the bottom to http://www.knittersreview.com/upcoming_events.asp. Maybe there is something in your area!

I just ordered and have since recived a "bag of candy" which is a colorful bag of roving ( I think it is roving anyway)from http://www.mielkesfarm.com/Products/felting.htm
they have all kinds of felting products and some free patterns, as well as patterns to purchase. Felting has become my latest obsession. They have this cute pattern for felted soap.... my version (picture would be inserted here if I could it figure out...try to imagine an orange wooly blob here) it was really fun and easy to make!! The wool is a natrual exfoliator, my husband loves it. I think I will try to make some beads as well..they look easy and fun. I also recently have gone to my local thirft store and bought some wool sweaters and felted them. I have them felted now I need to deciede what to do with them ( I will post pictures of them too if I can figure it out). Good luck, let us know how the beads turn out!!

I read somewhere on Amazon.com about someone who felted soap, what a fun idea. I found a local yarn shop about 40 minutes away that has the roving so a "roaming" I will go tomorrow to check it all out. Thanks for all the great ideas ladies, I will most certainly be checking out some of those websites, and will post picture of my bead creations once they are done. Smiles to all!!
