I found this story online and I was crying so hard by the end!

Saturday, August 23rd 2008... Ryan Andrews has hauled horses for Tbfriends for more than two years. I never knew until yesterday what Ryan did last weekend.

There was one of those desperate can you please take my horse phone calls. The lady says she is a mother of two young kids, and they love their old mare more than anything in the world. But times are tough, the husband left long ago, and even with a full time job the lady is far behind on her bills. Would I be able to find someone to love their mare?

There was a combination of hope and despair in her voice. I said okay. I can try to place her old mare with a nice family.

I told Ryan Andrews the story, gave him the address, and said go pick up the mare. She can stay with us until a new home is found.

When Ryan got there the lady and her two kids were crying. They had given the old mare a bath, and she was sparkling clean. The kids would not stop hanging on to the mare. Ryan said it was one of the saddest moments he has ever seen.

So he had a conversation with the lady. Ryan asked what would it take for you to keep your mare? The lady said she thought about finding a part time job to supplement her full time job, but that would leave no time to spend with her kids. Plus she would have to hire a sitter, which would drain her income. With groceries for the kids and food for the mare, the lady needs an extra $400.00 a month. Her ex husband gives her zero. Zilch.

So instead of loading the sparkling clean mare into his trailer, with two heart broken kids watching, Ryan says he will be right back. Ryan drives to Higbys in Dixon. He buys hay, grain, and a new fly mask for the old mare.

And then Ryan goes to Costco in Woodland. He loads his horse trailer with people food. Chicken, and all kinds of pastas. Sushi. Cereals, and lunches for the kids. And to brighten their day, Ryans buys the two kids a big apple cinnamon pie.

He brings all of this back to the lady and her kids. Ryan tells the mom we can make this work. Keep your mare, and every month he will do his best to help with food and expenses.

Ryan Andrews is saving money for his own land. Ryan is engaged to Heather. He too has a full time job, but his income is not all that great.

His heart is bigger than earth...

I would like to take this time to Thank our team. Incredible giving people who donate their time and money to help both horses and humans.

Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful story. Sometimes it seems as if all you hear lately are the all of the bad that is going on in this crazy world of ours. It's so very nice to read something good for once.

I didn't cry, but am very touched by the large heart this man has. He is what I strive to be as a person, what we all ought to strive to be.

God has blessed him as I'm sure he felt WONDERFUL being able to help a family like that.
