Good Morning all...

I'm doing it. I'm filling out Zach's registration form for going to a day care.... I'm nervous. Zach [2 1/2 yrs] will be fine, i know it. It is me who will need the transition!!! The problem: I used to be a director/ assist director / two's teacher at a day care [as a matter of fact...the same one I am enrolling him into].. SO, bottom line, I think I know toooo much about the business. I know where my money goes and how they hire people and it scares me a little. The upside: People know me there...So, they already know I'm a wild animal when it comes to protecting my son! LOL!

My private sitter may be moving and with the uncertainty.. I just thought it would be better to go ahead and make this move [she seems like she may be getting tired of watching Zach, she's had him for 2 yrs now]. And I can appreciate that. She is a stay at homer and really doesn't need the additional income. She loves Zach but I think is ready to have some freedom as her children are much older [middle school].

Hopefully, if the stars align... Zach will start "school" [as he calls it :)] by August 3rd. I can do this. Lots of other parents have to go through this too and so can I.

My biggest fear though: Kids pushing Zach around [b/c he is a sweatheart and doesn't really know how to take up for himself]...or...Zach being scared. Oh well, this is a new expereience and I will concentrate on the positives with Zach and enjoy the good things about it together with him... :) Besides...he will make lots of new efriends his own age now.

Thanks for lending me your ear....or eyes more so. :)
Jamie

Day care can be great you are already 100% better off because you know the place and people. The interaction with kids his own age helps so much.

Ya done good.

Jamie, You both will do fine. The transistion will be hard more for you than Zach, but he'll get to interact with other children his age. I used to do the same as you. My grandadughter is on the waiting list at the daycare where I used to work. My daughter also used to work there so she is really comfortable with this. We'll have to go through transistion also more me than my granddaughter Monroe, since I've been taking care of her and I love it. Best of luck to the both of you.

Jamie- I had the same fears when I first took Nora to daycare, just even for a few hours while I ran errands or whatever, but she really loved it and being around the other kids I think helps teach coping skills. *hugs* He'll let you know if he doesn't like it and you could always find another private person to watch him if the large group was too much. *hugs*

Jamie, I was scared when I took my grandson to a different church on Sunday and left him in the care of strangers for all of 1 hour. He hated my church daycare and would not go. He loved this one and almost didn't want to come back with me. It's very scary these days. My 2 neices use a day care that they can see from there computers any time of day. Its scary no matter where they go and my grandson is so tiny for his age and he plays with growen-ups no kids in the neighborhood that I want him near. But I bet you both love end up loving it.

Hope all your days are Sunnydays.
