HelloSisters...
I am sooo excited,..... because I plant wayyyyy too much in my greenhouse, my Dh asked me to sell the extras...I sold out!!!
So, after spring,and selling to friends...
I have 2 businesses asking me to grow hanging baskets for them...anyone have any ideas..When to start baskets for Mothers day, and when should I start my seeds for the baskets..I am open to any help....
Looking forward to hearing from my Farmgirl Sisters....

Good on you, Terri! What a wonderful way to earn some "egg money"! I worked at a nursery for four years. We usually started baskets about a month out. That gave the plants time to fill in. We planted them with fish fertilizer which really gave them a good start. We usually would pinch of buds that might form to get the plants to bush out. Using seeds, you would just have figure the sprouting time to when mothers day was and allow for the plants to be full enough when you would sell them. Make sense? A lot is just trial and error. Have fun!

We usually took orders in November if we had a regular cliental. Start seeds indoors in flats and transplant in and start your baskets in January and February. Dofferent plants grow at different speeds so stuff baskets as you have plants and like Julia said pinch back early bloomers st get plants to bush out. .; I worked in a nursery for 18 years. Remember some plants are for shade and some for sun. Try not to mix them even if they look good. MB

Hello! I am new to the forum!! I saw your topic and I am planning to use my giant garden to help finance the purchase of my own land (land in my name). I've been dilligently working to get all debt paid off and finally have ALL PERSONAL DEBT completely cleared. So I'm saving every dime I can get my hands on and am planning to sell at the farmer's market this fall. My current plan is to save 1/2 my monthly income, plus whatever I can make from selling at the farmer's market until I can buy my own land with cash. :)
