I don't know about other vendors, but I am pretty small-time yet, and I am still not doing enough business to make taking debit and credit cards worthwhile. It's pretty expensive to have that ability, and although I know it would increase my business, I just haven't felt like I want to put that much money out up front yet. Soooooooo - there may be other small vendors like me that can't afford to subscribe to a credit card processing service yet, so for shopping, it's probably best to bring cash with you. I take cash and checks (knock on wood, I've never had a bad check in 7 years of doing business!)and won't be able to take debit/credit cards at BBB.

Yes! That is a good thing to point out. If you have a laptop and a wireless connection you can take debit/credit through PayPal- unfortunatly my lap top is out of commision and I don't know if Oaksdale has wireless internet that would be picked up by the old mill. But that is one option to consider, Sherri if you start deciding you need to do debit/credit one of these days! *hugs*

Girls, there wont be internet at the mill unless you have an air card and good cell signal.

Oh, Rene! Wow! You already checked the area for wireless! That is something I wouldn't have even thought of doing in advance!

Rene - do you happen to know whether there is an ATM in the vicinity of the where will be selling that we could direct customers to if they need it?

I might be wrong, but I don't think Oakesdale has an atm anymore. You have to realize this town is tiny, blink, and you won't see it as you drive through.

Rosalia is about 17 miles away and I know there is a US Bank there and there is an atm. Also along the BBB route there might be an atm in Rockford and in Fairfield. Tekoa has one at the grocery store, but it doesn't always have much money in it. Latah does not have an atm. I don't know about Garfield and Palouse. I do know the BARTER ON BRIDGE STREET vendors at COMFORTS OF HOME in Tekoa will be able to take credit/debit cards because Wendy Sienknecht got a device to use just for this event. Hope that helps.

I sent an email to the City Clerk to ask about the ATM thing.

TS- Perhaps you could warn the Tekoa store that there might be heavier than normal use of the ATM and perhaps they could stock the money up?

I will do that, but quite frankly, the owner isn't local and isn't very sympathetic to the "locals".

Oakesdale town returned my email and TS was right- no local ATM. I will accept checks at my location but of course cash is preferred!

Should I let the US Bank in Rosalia know to expect perhaps heavy use so they can be sure the ATM is stocked up?
