My English Lop just had a breech baby, and lost it, and I knew she had to have more than one baby but wasnt contracting. The vet said (of course) if i had the money he could xray her and see if there were more bunniies inside. So,I thought long and hard and decided that if she were to nurse a bunny, it may start contractions again . I gave her 2, 10 day old bunnies from another litter, and guess what! It worked, she expelled the other bunnies (stillborn) And accepted the foster bunnies as her own. I stopped by the vet's and let him know-he was really surprised!

I am sorry about the babies, but I am so happy to hear that momma made it through and is happy with her fosters. Congrats!

I would have never thought of that Lorraine. Hats off to you. We had rabbbits several years ago and they are fun. I had a mini lop that was so sweet. She was chocolate color. Hope things go better next time. Was this her first litter?

Good job, Lorraine! Nursing usually helps the body release oxytocin which helps the contractions as well as the let down of milk! Great fast thinking!
