Oh, I love Trader Joe's! The closest one to me is 3 hours away :(
Things I have to get:
~Dried fruit ~Nuts ~Condiments ~Pasta
I'm sure that there is more, but when I go I usually pick up non-perishables :)
Their prices are so good!

Love their cheeses, pasta, condiments are great! My very favorite is the eggplant cutlets. Yummy! When I run out of my own pasta sauce TJ's is the one I rely on. (I then make a quickie eggplant parmesean)
Artichoke bruchetta as well as the regular. Lemon Curd.
I do miss the orange sauce. They discontinued it.
Come to think of it, I don't think I've had a bad experience with anything from TJ's. Enjoy your visit!

I'm with Deb, their cheese is great! So are their prices! Their wines are great too, especially their Chardonnay. Again, you can't beat the price! Have fun shopping and plan to give yourself at least an hour there to look at everything.

I have loved everything I have bought at Trader Joe's. I always keep their frozen green beans and frozen yellow, red and green pepper strips on hand. They both taste very fresh. And are so convenient! They also have good deals on nuts and fruit snack mixes. Have fun!

I loooooove Trader Joes. Cheese, cheese and more cheese, dried nuts, yogurts, dairy, eggs, etc....What else...pastas and sauces, oh and Biscotti--I ate the whole thing in one sitting and didn't feel bad because they didn't cost what Kroger charges. Don't know if your into beer, but their "house" ale is only $4.98 or so for 6 bottles and my husband said it's the best beer he's had (and as a bartender, he knows beer) and I second the wines...they have this Ten for Under $10 and they rock!

We go down to Trader Joes (1 hour away) about every other month and stock up on:
crackers (whole grain, really DELICIOUS) tortellini--the dried kind (yummm--they discontinued our favorite kind, mushroom, though) frozen salmon patties (cheap!) cashew pieces (lots cheaper!) chicken mango sausage :)
and various other favorites, such as those flax seed tortillas, etc.
We love trader joes!!!

oh, and not only are they a reasonably priced store but they carry wonderful organic meats and products. I use to by my Avalon shampoo there. I have found it up here but it is nearly $1.50 more so at $6 a bottle I am hard pressed to buy it. Oh well..... I love the daily store sample/presentations of products that they are hi-lighting.... >^..^<

Oh, it's very yuppie but I still enjoy a visit there. We go to the one in Issaquah right off I-90. They have killer deals on wine...we call it 2-buck Chuck. It's 2.99 per bottle and decent enough stuff.
I enjoy their marinara sauce, whole wheat pastas (good prices). Good deal on tortilla chips and refried salsa beans and canned black beans. They also have good deals on toothpaste, like the Tom's of Maine but it's Trader Joe's brand.
Nice cheese section. I buy cashews there too. Oh, and chocolate bars...oh mercy.
Have fun!

I used to live a block away from TJ's in the Hollywood District, in Portland, OR. I miss good, cheap wine. Don't forget their beautiful, re-usable bags for $1. I don't think TJ's is yuppie. I think it's hippie, and the yuppies just caugt on to something good. If it was yuppie, it wouldn't be so cheap.

Grace, I emailed them this morning questioning why they don't have one in Spokane. So I think all the Spokane have to write--let our voices be heard: ) I downloaded their newsletter was squelling in delight, Jim was in the living room saying don't go overboard. Overboard I'm taking a cooler maybe two. If I love it I just might have to make monthly excursions over there! : ) JoAnn |

You can judge for yourself if you think it's yuppie, hippie, guppie...what matters is if you like it. We go about 3-4 times a year. Most things keep for a while except the snack food items--eat them up quickly before they go stale (ha ha).
Have fun and expect to fill your 2 coolers. We always take 2 and end up filling them both plus have bags of dry goods too. The one in Issaquah opens at 9 a.m. Heading west on I-90 take the Renton exit (to Hwy 900?) at Issaquah, right at the ramp stop, right at the first light and weave your way back to Lowe's and Petsmart. Right next to Petsmart.

My first experiences w/ TJ was well over 11 years ago in So Cal in Palm Desert
Didn't quite grasp it all like I have now. I go 1x a month and stock up.
I go to one around the Raleigh/Carey area.
True that on the nuts and chips. None of the chips have preservatives a huge plus...but this means you have to tear into them fast and not hoard.
I buy almond milk here, and only here. At just 1.99 comaperd to the usual 2.79 and closer to 3.00 at Earth Fare, this is the best deal by far.
I also stock up on their cheese crackers. The ingredient list is small, and the taste is better than cheeese nips. Not as salty either.
It's a shopping experience.
althohgh I have to say around where i shop, the shoppers always look so douer and glum. Geesh hope the people in other folk's states aren't as down |

Other great items are the Dr. Bronner's soaps. Waaay cheaper. The one we go to also atocks Avalon Organic;s lavender shampoos and hand soaps. These too are about 2-3 bucks cheaper.
And their laundry detergent. By far the best smelling lavender based cleaning product to date. Nothing fake about it! I use this with a little regualr detergent just b/c for really bad stains it does fair. I just love the smell though. |

Shirley, do they have one in Federal Way close to Olympia? Think I've been to that one.
Yes, the flaxseed tortilla chips are awesome and their salsas are all great. And did I mention the chocolate bars? Oh my. Jami in WA
