I lucked into 4 of those fabulous metal chairs you might remember from grandma's back yard -- the kind with arms, a waffle pattern cut into the backs and seats, and bounce when you bounce on them :-) They need refinishing but are otherwise in fabulous condition. If I had the time, which I don't, I would dip them to remove old paint, and sand off the rusty bits (or use a little $3 wire brush-type bit on my drill, as seen in MaryJanes current magazine for cleaning up used cast-iron cookware). If I had the money (which I also don't). I'd take them to a good-ol'-boy auto paint place that would work with me to give them a sturdy, gorgeous enamel finish in a retro combo like aqua (or cherry red!) with ivory, yellow with white. You could choose whatever you remember most fondly from your childhood. Alternately, I guess you could do it yourself with enamel spray paints.
They're too big to mail, so this would be a pick-'em-up affair, or I could drive them to you in my pickup truck if you're not too far away. (I'm in Fauquier County, VA, near Warrenton).
I would like $100 for all 4. $110 if I deliver.
Thanks for your consideration :-) |

Sounds great Mara--I will have to look for some out here. MB
Oh no you don't! You will NOT tempt me to go out there! I'll bet I'd never want to come back ;-) |

I'm absolutely sure of it. Would love to get out there one day. But first? Phone bill. :-) |

Michele, that's perfect! I really wish I could afford to restore these and use them. They bring back glorious memories. |

I loved those chairs as a kid at my grandparents. I was just visiting and my grandma still has one, but it's in rough shape. Too bad we aren't closer to VA! Hope you find a taker!

I did, and just clinched the deal this evening! Let's hear it for Craigslist :-) |
