June 21st is Summer Solstice and Father's day. Does anyone do anything special to mark the return of Summer? MB

Pray that my tomato plant survive until then. I might even do the tomato dance whatever that might be. LOL I was hoping that summer would be here and I wouldn't have to cover them at night.

As luck would have it, my brother and his family will be in town that weekend. So naturally, we'll be enjoying a very nice picnic with the entire family back together.

We're normally either canoeing or fishing that day. With all the work going on around here not sure that's going to happen. Perhaps a campfire in the yard. Maybe catch some lightening bugs.

Hopefully summer will come with the solstice - it's been cold & rainy here.

Lorraine, Summer will show up and if it is like here, it won't be on a week-end. Some miserable Wednesday. Maybe August. LOL MB

I usually try to cook from what's in the garden to celebrate the summer's longest day, and bounty...this will be a very special day because it's Justin's first Father's Day, so maybe I'll try my hand at a really amazing dinner...I have this sweet onion pudding in mind (like corn pudding, only sweet, carmelized onions), along with some MEAT :)

This month it is my turn to hostess the monthly FarmChick meeting. Because of Solstice and Fathers day we are opening it up to all of the FarmChicks (there is over 130 of us just here in this tiny little town of Prosser) and their families. We are going to make Bloomers for FarmFair while the men BBQ dinner. I will be sure to post pics as I am sure we will have some characters here.
