Last night I was vacuuming with my friend's Dyson. It was so amazing to see how much stuff was brought up out of a visibily clean carpet! I am amazed. Then I was having way too much funn vaccuming so I started moving furniture and getting those little-vaccuumed corners that everyone has. I vacuumed for a couple hours and I have to admit it was fun!
Granted this house is on a farm (still housesitting) so a lot of dirt gets tracked in during normal daily activities. But it sure makes you appreciate a good vacuum when you can see the dirt building up in the tank!

I have had my Dyson for about 6 yrs. I bought an extra filter to wash so I could continue to vaccuum with a fresh clean one. I bought mine at Kohls when they had a tax free weekend and it also happneded to be on one of those sales where for every 50.00 you spend, they give you 10.00 off towards another purchase to be made at another week. I collected those 10.00 coupons and bought bday presents with them, so in essence didnt pay anythign for them. Kohls gave a 2 yr warranty that if I didnt like it for any reason, I could return it. BTW, it can still suck the color our of any carpet!

I asked for and received a Dyson for Christmas a few years ago from my hubby...I LOVE it! It really does pick up the dirt and critter hair.

My daughter bought a refurbished one on Amazon for a really good price and she loves it!!! She said it's the only way to go because Amazon has such a good return policy.

Alee: I'm assuming a dyson is a vaccum cleaner! I hate to vaccum. What is so special about a dyson? Marly

Hi Marly- It is supposed to have special technology that makes it not lose suction no matter how full it gets- right up to the fill line as opposed to other vacuums that do. I know every other vacuum I have tried does seem to lose suction the fuller it gets. I have noticed with the Dyson that is has SUPER UBER suction when it is empty and then loses a tiny suction when it starts getting full but then it does seem to keep that level of suction up. I have been very impressed.

I live a block away from a quarry. I hate leaving my windows open (but I do it) because I get a thin coating of gray dust on everything. Gross! I talked hubby into a Dyson 2 years ago. (He's a carpenter so he sees it as a tool for me to do my job ) I vacuumed with my old vacuum first - then used the Dyson. WOW, WOW, WOW! You would not believe what came up out of my carpeting. It was only a year old at that time and had been professionally cleaned 6 months prior. I didn't think it would be "that bad". When I showed dh the canister - he was very proud of his purchase!
He's still amazed at the dirt that it pulls out of the carpet. I even vacuum the mattresses with it. If the dog is feeling particularly lazy - he lets me vacuum him. With an attachment of course.
I need to blow out my canister somehow. That gray dust is sitting inside there. When I take it outside and bounce it on the sidewalk you should see the mound of dirt that comes out. And to think we were breathing that in before. Uggh.

Hubby just took my cylinder outside and blew it out with the air compressor! Unbelievable! I had to run in and close my windows - there was a cloud of dust headed right for the house. He has now vowed to do it regularly for me.
I've seen tutorials online on how to take them apart to clean them (not Dyson sites so I've been leary about voiding my warranty) but this worked so well!

I've had a Dyson-the Purple Animal one-for several months now & I love it. I have wooden floors, but I also have a German Shepherd, aka German Shedder. The Dyson really helps with all those hairs that drop. I esp love that it's bagless, as the vac I had before had a little bag & required frequent changing. I realized Dysons are spendy, but has anyone considered getting one via Craig's List? I've seen a few there & while you would not have the 5 year manufacturer's warranty, it might be a good way to get one. Susan

Ok, I have an older Oreck, it's pretty good, but since we now have a dog... I don't see it getting the dog hair up all the time. How does the Dyson do with dog hair? KarenP

Man I must be the only one who does not like the Dyson. I have one that is a canister, & is is heavy, not user friendly, extension wand is big, bulky & hard to snap into place, always gets caught on the cord & does not roll well, gets clogged constantly & the cord is so short that I have to unpug & replug several times. I also have an Oreck & I love it. LONG cord, great suction, very lightweight, bags are very big so I only change a few tmes a year (we have 5 VERY HAIRY dogs) & never gets hung up or clogged. I keep the Dyson to use sometimes to clean up a big mess that would fill a bag, but it frustrates me every time I plug it in. I guess I am in the minority, but I love the Oreck & it is made in the USA...BIG plus & yes Alee, I would never call vacuuming fun. It is my least favorite..even with the Oreck that I love.

Well vacuuming is one of those chores where you can see an immediate improvement on most carpets- Either the dog hair disappears or if your carpet ins't that dirty in the first place you get those awesome straight tracks that look so nice and just shout "Clean carpet!" Of course if you have berber carpet or low pile carpet it kindof takes the fun out of vacuuming and isn't nearly so emotionally rewarding. I get excited about dusting REALLY dusty things for the same reason- instant gratification that I made a difference. LOL
