Hi girls,
Just got back from Grandmas house and a visit with the honeybees! Grandma and her boyfriend (he's hardly a boy...he's 80) currently have two hives of bees. He's been a beekeeper for 40 plus years now and still gets calls from locals who've got bees where they don't belong and would like them removed properly! Anyway.....in the recent months he's accquired two hives of bees that have moved to grandma's house and today we went out and grandma removed the top to the hive so I could meet the newest additions to the family! SO Exciting! I wanna learn more!

I have two hives of honeybees that I started this year. Start going to your local beekeeping association meetings and get to know everything before you get them. It's really worthwhile to learn as much as possible to ensure success your first year.
We love our bee girls and lie on our bellies in front of the hives watching them haul all their pollen in. They are absolutely wonderful creatures. You can see my hives on my webpage here on my latest listing.

Jo, I love your hive!
I'm looking forward to learning more about bees this year as we have a hive in our garden now, courtesy of our neighbor. (See the bees' arrival on my blog.)
They are fascinating creatures, aren't they. I'm adding more bee-happy plants to the garden this year. I already have asters, sage, echinacea, eupatorium, and liatris; will be adding agastache, zinia, sunflower, oh and more lavender. Want to keep those bee girls happy!
