Well, today I caught my 2 pesky little white ducks and took them to a nice man with 2 huge ponds on the way to town. They already had 2 ducks. So I take them to the edge of the pond and they get out and go right into the water. Then the other 2 ducks go right in too and attack them! It was so quick! At one point there were 2 ducks piggy back on top of one of mine pushing it's head under water like they were trying to drown it. Poor thing. They finally lost interest and those 2 went back to their shady spot and my 2 took off to the woods. They have another pond up farther in the woods so I followed them to get them to go to that pond. Well, they turned left onto a trail and kept going. They are probably walking still. I went by earlier and only saw 2 ducks on the pond in front. Then had to take my hubby to his truck and didn't see them still. So maybe they're on the back pond. I'll stop by tomorrow and check on them. I hope they will be ok there. They were getting up on my porch and pooping and they were just becoming a mess. So I had to do something with them besides put them in the pot.

Oh, my, Kris! Those are some mean ducks that nice man has! When La's baby ducks grew-up, that's what she did was to take them to a pond with two other ducks. They all get along "swimmingly" well! Maybe your ducks are even now making a new home at the back pond!

Kris, I learned my lesson about ducks. They are very messy unless you can keep them away from your house. The ones we put out in the pasture, I am afraid a fox or raccoon got them. No more ducks for me. (Well until next Easter and I see them at TSC!)

Well it was either take them there or to a pond up the road in the middle of a field with no fence and fox and coyote all over. So I chose this one. Yeah, there will be no more for me, too. Now if I could get someone to come catch my crazy guineas...

I was reading in "Mother Earth News", this month all about chickens and guineas. I have never had guineas. Our neighbor has a slew of them. They never come over our way, I guess because of our dogs. The neighbor the dairy farmer complains about the guineas all the time. I am not sure why they would be a bother for him. My husband doesn't like them either. That same neighbor has alot of geese too. All his birds are very noisy. When we have friends come over they always ask, if all that noise gets on our nerves. I tell them that I don't even hear it anymore. I guess we have gotten used to it.

That is true, Winona. They are great watch dogs for sure. But they chase the chickens and are really aggressive and annoying sometimes. Most of the time they are in the fields, though. And they roost way up in the trees now. And do the noisy squable half the night.
And I don't know why someone with geese would complain about someone with guineas. I really have gotten used to my guineas' noise.

Oh Kris, I wish I would have read this before I set my eyes on those sweet little ducks at TSC and carried them all home with me! I hope yours are doing well in the back pond...maybe someday they'll all get along! After reading this...I think I'll put up a nice fence and keep them back by the barn where they won't get into any trouble! My neighbor has a big pond full of ducks too, at least I have an eye on where I can bring them if they get out of hand! hee,hee:)

Melissa, they weren't all that bad. I really liked them. We've had them 2 years. I drove by the pond twice today and didn't see any ducks at all both times. I was going to stop on the way home but was in a hurry. So I will next time. I hope they were up at the other pond. As long as they have a little pool to get in they will be fine. We had one of those round kiddie pools for them.

I don't have ducks, but I would imagine they'd go to where the best food is. I found a duck once that had wandered away from its pond (it was the middle of winter, zero degress, and the owner hadn't put out any food for them) and its wings were pinioned so it couldn't fly. It was splashing around in a puddle by the road and I was afraid it'd get run over so i caught it and put it in the shed overnight. I went out the next day (despite running a 103 degree temp) and when i found out who the owner was and that he wasn't feeding them, I took it to a pond where I knew there was a flock of ducks and hoped for the best. I figured as long as it didn't wander away from the flock, it was unlikely that a fox or coyote would get it. A neighbor up the road found another duck from the same pond (with the thoughtless owner) and he kept it as a pet. Maybe they know threre's better food in the back pond.

I sure hope so, Cindy. I hope they are ok. I will check on them tomorrow.
That was nice of you to rescue that poor duck. I don't know why people have animals and don't take care of them. It's just not right. Then they get caught and have to pay fines and end up in jail. So what's cheaper anyway?
