does anyone know what the ratio herb to grain alcohol should be for a strong milk thistle tincture? my hubby was one of 21 men that contracted hep c from the VA hospital in tn. his levels are up and we are using all the natural treatments in our arsenol. i would just like to make my own milk thistle tincture.
Tamara, I'm so sorry your hubby is paying for the carelessness of the folks at the V.A. I have been looking for instructions of making tinctures. the only thing I have found so far is in the Herbal Recipes by Rosemary Gladstar. she says that there isn't really a toxic dose of Milk Thistle. says to put the seeds in blender with alcohol and blend which will start the tincture process. You might check in at the Susan Weed website too. there are lots of folks there with more experience at tinctures than I have. Hope that your treatments help him beat this illness.
