Has Mary Jane ever done an issue on dairy, specifically raw dairy education as well as how to make home made cheeses?

I hope this is the right spot to be asking that question. My apologies if it is not.

Best,

Linder

Me too! Considering my dairy goats and all the goodies I make with their milk is my favorite topic!

I'm with you gals. I just got through working in the "moo Booth" at the Minnesota State fair. Hundreds of non-farm families walk through this series of educational stops in the dairy barn. Many have never seen farm animals. What a great educational opportunity.

Hi Linda,
Not sure if you received my message from before.
Here in Missouri we have the opportunity to purchase raw milk.
We have a gal in our new chapter of Farmgirls of the Heartland with a wonderful farm North of Kansas City.
hiddenhillsfarms.com

She has a farmer to consumer type co-op on her farm. Read about it and enjoy. I would like to be a member of her farm next year.

We hope to have classes taught by her at her farm for some of our meetings.

Wende,
She sounds great. We are fortunate enough here in WA to get to purchase RAW milk as well. We have a farmgirl Jennifer Black who does the marketing for "Pride and Joy" dairy close by my home. They are a RAW dairy as well. This is a great topic. One of my favorites. Love the idea about a RAW milk Issue.. or at least Milk Maiden issue. :)

Circumstances made us FRIENDS; MaryJanesFarm made us SISTERS :)

I would LOVE to hear more about home dairy-ing, especially cows. We currently purchase raw milk from a health store and it is very expensive! We have put our names in at a couple of local dairy's for a "reject" milk cow and are now waiting for a call! My husband grew up with a milk cow, but this will be a new experience for the kids and I, so any information from people who have done this would be great!

I'm in I make some cheese and butter from my goats milk but I am always eager and ready to learn more. I just love this group of ladies I don't think that I've ever been more at home anywhere than here. All of yor Gals are just my kinda group. I would love to know how to make soaps with the milk, I want to expand my herd and keep everything from home where you know what it is and where it came from. Can't Wait

A dairy issue woud be WONDERFUL!! As a dairy farmer with 100+ cows, I know the importance of dairy education. So many people have been mis-informed about raw milk, organic milk and conventional milk and the advantages and disadvantages. And of course....recipes are always good:) We make a lot of our own cheese as well as butter, yogurt, ice cream, whipped cream etc....
What a GREAT idea!!!
