A friend was over last night telling DH and I that his dad had read a long time ago to plant a piece of dog food with your corn seed. The reasoning behind it was there was a lot of nutrients and bone meal in the dog food which helps the corn to prosper.
Has anyone ever heard of this or tried it?

That would be a really good way to get your garden dug up by every thing.
I put bone meal in my garden one year and everything that could dig did.
Diana, I've got the garden electric fenced, had to in order to keep the deer out. We don't have anything else small around as the dogs keep everything besides the deer run off. It was just a crazy thing I heard and wondered about.

Never heard of this but I use horse and sheep manure. I'm with Diana - used bone meal when we first moved here and if it could dig, it did dig. UGH! Plus, bone meal can be really harmful to humans, be careful.
